What is the difference in page and profile?

Your profile is meant to be in your own name. If you were a business, each staff member would have their own profile page.

The business pages they brought out is for all your business news.

So if someone wants me, they only have to put in Elizabeth Edwards
If someone wants my business they look for 1stAngel Arts Magazine

Each staff member can now administrate and add to the business page. Nobody else can add to or administer my profile.

When I setup my initial profile I was thinking strictly in terms of "business"...it was never about me per SE...Now for me to develop my page is redundant...I will eventually do it anyway!
I just checked out Beth's profiles and basically she has done the same. Her personal profile directs you to her business...So maybe I am not too far off track!

Yes I was there before pages happened so my profile was set up for the business too. My page is almost redundant but I have now added people to help run it and so the magazine page will hav emore on it.

Vivian, I did so for several reasons. I really don't like Google + site. I don't spend any time there. I don't like how people share your work and for other privacy issues. On Google search everything on Google + comes up first and I would rather it didn't!

thank you Jessica.....I sound like many who speak to me.....fact is, I'm overwhelmed with the loss of privacy.....I send an email to my cousin in Philadelphia, with an image from my files in Picasa....next thing you know, G+ (which I'm finding no time enough to maintain/visit)....posted that image !!!!! Straight out of my use of it as an 'attachment'....it became public ! and I don't even use the Picasa Uploads or Albums.....I wonder if my life would change drastically if I culled a lot of the ID's I've got everywhere (thinking I 'should' get ID's)....guess maybe the more exposure affords more op's for sales.....I too will have to get real and honest with myself.....it's all too much for me now, dare I say it.....

I'm with Vivian. I set mine up, but I rarely, if ever, check it. I just can't get the hang of it. Just now getting a little more comfortable with FB. Lots of people talking about how easy G+ is, but it is confusing to me. I kept all my other Google connections, too.

Carolyn, Google + to me is SOOOO much more user friendly than Facebook. I rarely use Facebook...Never liked it ...I just don't get the flow!

Judy, it's funny to read both sides of the conversation. For me, G+ has too many directions with all the circles. I think that is where I get lost. On FB, I simply scroll down my personal page to see what has been posted, and comment/like/share what is interesting to me. I use my business page to announce "thank you" for my sales on Zazzle and here, automatically post products I have uploaded to both FAA and Zazzle, and to share interesting articles or other posts I have found. It seems so much cleaner a transition for me. Granted, FB is constantly changing things, but I don't get "that" deep into FB so that it throws me off too much. I do add people to my circles on G+ when I get notices and try to visit there from time to time, but it is rare. Hopefully, those who have been so kind to me at G+ don't think I am a snob, I'm just not really sure how to make the best use of it yet. I'm really not a snob, :-)

I'm with those who just aren't getting G+. It loses me every time I'm there, so I rarely go there anymore. Personally, I'm getting frustrated with all the so-called "social networking" sites, because it's more about numbers of "friends", "followers", "circles", etc. and less about actual social networking. I'm a very shy, quiet person and I had hopes for these types of sites, personally and professionally. But.........I think I just need to learn how to actually talk to people live and in person.

Privacy has always been of considerable importance to me on the internet. I contemplated setting up a G+ account for a while but because of the whole debacle of privacy changes (and I've been reading nearly everything about it) and what that could potentially mean, I not only decided against it, but I deleted all of my google accounts - when and if they change their new policies I'll rethink them. For now, I'm only using Chrome since it doesn't overly affect one's privacy... yet.

@Francis Davis - yeah, for the most part I agree with you. FAA is the social networking site I find the most time for...

Question about google+ ..When I opened the account I basically setup as a business with my name...I didnt know they were going to have a business/ page option later. All of my followers(circles) are on this profile...1,500.00 approx..in my circles..I started to develop my business page, but am reluctant to upload my photos to share because I have not established any circles on this profile. Is there a way to merge the profiles or something...If not, I am going to forget about the page, and just continue developing my basic profile

I do not believe that this is possible.

In the beginning on G+ people were only allowed to use their real names and I saw information shared on some accounts that were deleted by Google because people were using it for business before it was allowed. That was the case until the business pages came along... at that point people set up pages and posted messages on their "profiles" to say "please like my page".

That's how they moved followers over. Several big names have not bothered using a business page because of that, preferring to keep their thousands of followers on their profile page rather than posting content twice or trying to encourage people to "follow" their business page as well. Heidi, when I opened my account with google+ I did not use my real name...I guess they never caught it...or let it slide...Maybe they allowed it because behind the scenes they asked if you used any other names and I revealed by real name... It's not like I was trying to hide something!
..I say I think google+ is easier than facebook..but lately I have been struggling with some issues. For example, I want to participate in Figurative Friday...I tried posting an image on their page and it comes up limited...For some reason, the image does not reach the forum...When I check my circle it shows 1 person, me...but then it shows a picture of figurative Friday...which I assume is everyone in that circle? Not sure......anyway appreciate your links and will definitely check them out!

Re Figurative Friday posts - It's not possible to post on a "page" directly.

What appears on the pages (if there is one) is there because the person managing the page places it there. If it's a theme page like the Friday one, the person/persons running the page will have shared an original post by a particular person...

However... some "Themes" do not have their own page (it depends on who created the theme as to whether it has a page or is merely managed using "hash tags = #".

#FigurativeArtFriday appears to have both a page https://plus.google.com/104605182032046809800/posts?hl=en and is a "hash tag" run theme. Curated by Maude McDonald http://goo.gl/aQAF5 and Melodie Douglas http://goo.gl/8irnc

When you want to share your work and have it included in the FigurativeArtFriday theme, the best way to do is to include the hash tag #FigurativeArtFriday and also include a line of text, something like .. curated by +Maude McDonald +Melodie Douglas. You will need to type a "+" sign before you type their names so that they receive a notification of your post.

Including the hash tag #FigurativeArtFriday, makes your post searchable by everyone looking for posts relating to that theme. Here's an example of such a search https://plus.google.com/s/%23FigurativeArtFriday?hl=en . Each post has used the hash tag.

In addition, you can also "tag" your image with #FigurativeArtFriday by choosing the "add a new tag" while you are viewing the image in the album format, i.e large view.

It can be quite confusing, however most theme pages work in the same way.

compose my post as follows

For #figurativeartfriday curated by +Maude McDonald and +Melodie Douglas (remember to type the + symbol before their names)

I would then post my content. I would return to my image and view it in the "album view mode" i.e. large. I would then add a tag to the image by choosing the "add new tag" button and typing in Figurativeartfriday (the full word will appear as you type, when it does press enter to add it, click "done tagging")

That should do it x

I'm told Picasa will only be available through G+ soon, which means one HAS to upload Albums in order to get into Picasa and edit there....am I right?

I am so new at FAA. If I may ask a few questions, please. Can you just open a site on Google? And put your art on it? Is there a fee? Thank you for your responses.

I really want to change my cover to the larger format but there is a message that states that you can not undo the change once it is submitted....Has anyone had any issues with that...or do you get a good preview before you submit...I would hate to submit a photo and have it off kilter or something!
