Lara makes her home in the Blue Ridge mountains of Virginia in the Shenandoah Valley with her husband where she has been photographing nature scenes for the past 20 years. Most of her photos are shot near her home in the Blue Ridge Mountains, or at the Virginia shore near Assateague Island. She also has a collection of photos that she shot on the Oregon Coast where she spent a great deal of her childhood.
Her photos often capture the smallest details in nature that are frequently overlooked by most of us as we go about our busy days. She hopes that her work inspires others to slow down, take a few deep breaths and really see the beauty that is all around us every day.
She is always amazed at how the same area from day to day can look so completely different depending on the weather, time of year and the lighting. “One day the valley looks calm and serene whereas another day the clouds create an ominous approaching drama as they roll over the mountains.”
Lara was born in Laguna Beach California in 1969 to parents who also have a deep appreciation of nature. She fondly remembers childhood camping trips up and down the Oregon and California coast with her family. She remembers the most enjoyable thing to her on these trips was learning to identify the different plants, birds, butterflies and animals in the areas where they camped. To this day being in and around nature is a very important aspect of her life.
She hopes her viewers enjoy her photos as much as she enjoys taking them. If you have any comments or questions please feel free to contact her at:
