Modesto, CA - Jim Christiansen had one of his images selected for the 2015 Parks Printing Calendar, as a result of winning a spot through judging of Parks' Summer art/photography contest. Image chosen is Street Rap, a multi media piece that started as yahoo 2 way doodle conversation with artist Diana Rocha, for a proposed hip hop album cover, that expanded by photoshop manipulation, digital image printing, then watercolored over, printed again, and after four printings, watercolor and reflective inks, and sharpie pen added for the final original.

Houma, LA - Nadjah Darwish Bergeron’s “La Flor Series” (“The Flower Series”) will be showcased at the Chase Tower Bank during Art Walk in Downtown Lafayette on November 8th, 2014. The series consist of oversized unique flowers, full of texture and rich in colors. Nadjah’s art will be exhibited throughout the month of November at the bank’s lobby.
Originally from Panama, Central America, Nadjah moved to the United States in 1993. After working in the Oilfield for over 10 years, in 2007, she decided to become a stay at home mom with the birth of her second child. By 2011, she had managed to teach herself the art of painting, creating a very distinctive and recognizable style inspired by both her Latin origins and Louisiana’s rich culture. Using modeling paste, acrylics and cut glass on large gallery wrapped canvases (usually 48” x 48” x 1-1/2”), the result is a flower that breaks the mold and stands out from the rest.
