Artist Christopher Reid won 1st place in the Artist Table "Figure" international art competition for his pastel painting "Agony Of Defeat". His charcoal life drawing "Christinas" also received an honorable mention.
Juror Audrey Hoffer commented on Agony of Defeat that "Life today is so hard for many people but none more so than black men. This man’s shoulders are heaving under the weight of Atlas. He has lost so much although we don’t know what….perhaps a ball game or a fight or a wager or even a job. Maybe he was ridiculed or humiliated. Now he must pull himself together and start anew. His endurance should motivate all of us. I’m touched by the emotions in his figure, the casually strewn objects, his desolate position on the bench and the warm colors. Even though his face is partially obscured, the feelings are intense. He captures the image of a contemporary man."
About Christinas, the judge said, "Beautiful drawing and sparkling shadows of light on the skin."

Hi, I’m Doug Pittman. Let me start by saying thanks for the chance to share my story. I’m 55 and work as a Crew Chief for one of the major airlines in the Dallas Ft Worth area. Photography has been a hobby for the better part of my life, but I never pursued it with any seriousness until the last few years. After the purchase of the camera I own now, I found myself looking for events that might offer interesting subject matter and happened upon a car show one weekend. I can’t say I came away with any keepers that day, but found I could easily get lost in the moment trying to capture the style and beauty on display there. I was hooked.
Living in a major metropolitan area, there are car shows almost every weekend. One of my favorites is the monthly Cars and Coffee gathering. I have eclectic taste when it comes to cars and having a show that attracts everything from hotrods to exotics makes for a target rich environment.
If you’ve ever taken a camera to a car show, you’ve...

Feature in January 2015 issue of Shutterbug Magazine:
The Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood (1948) wanted to reform art by replacing what it saw as a mechanistic approach with a return to the detail, intense colors and complex compositions of Quattrocento (late Middle Ages) Italian Art.
What does this have to do with Jessica Jenney? I don't know a better way to describe Jessica's painfully beautiful photographs that are collected into an understated site hosted on the Smuguug platform. She's arranges her main group of images in three collections entitled Landscapes, FLowers and Whimsical. Intimate Landscapes contains the essence of
Jessica's oeuvre, with impeccable compositions wrapped in a Pre-Raphaelite she says is achieved with "various treatments"
I don't care about the technical details involved because it all starts with a unique vision that she brings to these photographs, and all you have to do is peek inside these collections to know why.

Exhibition HUMANITY Syrlin Kunstverein e.V. International Stuttgart from 03.18.2015 - 04.12.2015
Press Report Rheingau Echo Nr. 12 (extract)
A critical view on society.
From Tuesday on the exhibition ‘humanity’ shows the artworks of two society-critical artists in the Waas’sche Fabrik. Gabriele Frey and […] take up controversial, partially tabued topics and present those as unvarnished as they are in reality. […]
Art is not decorative. Art is independent and time-critical. Three artists of the Stuttgart Syrlin-Kunstverein intensely concerned themselves with the human being and the diversity and adversity of human action. The result is a meaningful exhibition between social criticism and joy of life, enriched with vivid colourfulness. […]
Gabriele Frey brings her subtle observations of thoughtlessness, extreme behavior and ambitious vanities on canvas from a woman’s perspective. The pictorial themes appear in front of her inner eye or in dreams....
