Ottawa, ON - I got a big surprise this morning August 14th 2014, when going through my emails. Opening the Newsletter from Canadian Geographic I could see both my picture and my name displayed under the title: PHOTO OF THE MONTH FOR JULY 2014!
The image of my very first Wild Polar Bear captured in the Arctic, made it to the top!
This special honor only goes to those who have been previously picked for "Photo of the Week", which my image was on July 18th.
Not even knowing that my work had been picked for the weekly price, the surprise this morning was twice as big!
This is what GanGeo is saying in their Newsletter caption:
"PHOTO OF THE MONTH FOR JULY
The July photo of the month captured our hearts and made us want to head north for wildlife viewing! Photo club member Nina Stavlund, captured this wild polar bear near Beechey Island, Nunavut as the animal relaxed and enjoyed the Arctic air."

18th December 2013 - 25th January 2014
Photographer at the West Sussex County Times for over twenty eight years, Steve Cobb now brings his visual flair to an interpretation of the world using acrylic paint in a variety of stimulating ways.
Steve Cobb - Why I Paint
Known locally as a photographer for the West Sussex County Times based in Horsham, I've been with the paper for nearly thirty years.
Only recently have I indulged a long-held passion for painting. As a child I scribbled and sketched but have never really fully immersed myself in the creative waters. That is until about three years ago. I tried pastels, charcoal drawing, ink sketches but acrylics gave me the freedom to experiment in the direction I found most enjoyable.
The pictures displayed at Horsham Museum and Art Gallery in the Hurst Room represent a cross-section of my efforts in acrylic over the...

Krefeld, NR - „Ich finde Mendiola’s Arbeiten, z.B.

“I think Mendiola’s works, for instance ‘Autobahn Deutschland II – Germany in Search Of The Super Mobber’ or the ‘Captain On The Bridge’, turn out very well, and so does the ‘Reversal Chair’ (prototype).“

“A ‘Stimulating deceleration’ brings a cup of espresso and a swimming turtle together in one picture. … ‘The Eye Pervading The Wall’ the 58 year old artist has called his show with plenty of associations on his mind. Mendiola plays with conceptions, he does not really run his head against a wall, but the alert eye penetrates walls without effort getting into colorful rooms of fantasy. ... In ‘Politics’ a canon shoots eyeballs. In ‘God’s Houses’ a...
