House Of Usher By Wingsdomain Art And Photography

July 24th, 2015 - San Francisco Bay Area, CA

House Of Usher By Wingsdomain Art And Photography

This artwork is an artistic satire on Edgar Allan Poe's famous short story "The Fall of The House of Usher", but in this case, Poe IS the Usher, the usher of a vintage movie house! A wonderful and whimsically playful piece, sure to bring a smile to you everyday, and give your guests a topic of endless profound discussions.

Edgar Allan Poe (born Edgar Poe; January 19, 1809 – October 7, 1849) was an American author, poet, editor, and literary critic, considered part of the American Romantic Movement. Best known for his tales of mystery and the macabre, Poe was one of the earliest American practitioners of the short story, and is generally considered the inventor of the detective fiction genre. He is further credited with contributing to the emerging genre of science fiction. He was the first well-known American writer to try to earn a living through writing alone, resulting in a financially difficult life and career. -wikipedia

June 26 2015 Supreme Court Rules Same Sex Marriage A Legal Right By Wingsdomain Art And Photography

In a historic victory for gay rights this day, June 26, 2015, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled 5-4 Friday that gays and lesbians have the constitutional right to marry their chosen partner.

"No union is more profound than marriage, for it embodies the highest ideals of love, fidelity, devotion, sacrifice and family. In forming a marital union, two people become something greater than once they were. As some of the petitioners in these cases demonstrate, marriage embodies a love that may endure even past death. It would misunderstand these men and women to say they disrespect the idea of marriage. Their plea is that they do respect it, respect it so deeply that they seek to find its fulfillment for themselves. Their hope is not to be condemned to live in loneliness, excluded from one of civilization's oldest institutions. They ask for equal dignity in the eyes of the law. The Constitution grants them that right." -Justice Anthony Kennedy

Shes Such A Prima Donna By Wingsdomain Art And Photography

The Sistine Madonna, also called the Madonna di San Sisto, is an oil painting by the Italian artist Raphael Sanzio. The baby angels or cherubs rests at the bottom of the masterpiece. This piece is a wonderful satire of this masterpiece, playing on the words Madonna and Prima Donna. The two cherubs complain as all working stiffs do, at a local bar after clocking out about their Madonna or in this case their Prima Donna!

Work Of Australian Artist Chris Armytage To Be Displayed At Louvre

July 22nd, 2015 - Daylesford, VI

Work Of Australian Artist Chris Armytage To Be Displayed At Louvre

An Australian artist has been selected to have one of her artworks displayed in the Louvre in France.

Chris Armytage's photograph titled, A different road, will be part of a digital projection series shown in Paris in July as part of a reception celebrating the Fifth Annual Exposure Awards.

Selected artworks will be displayed at a pop-up exhibition in the reception area of the Louvre, along with the Winners and finalists in the prestigious competition which has a $75,000 prize up for grabs.

Ms Armytage said she took the photo in 2010 with a Canon EOS 450D, and it only required a simple colour adjustment and an added texture to make the final image.

"A different road is one of my earlier works, and one of my most popular. In fact it was the first of my photographic art pieces that I was really happy with, taken close to my home near Daylesford in Central Victoria. It shows a red dirt road winding through farmland, with Mount Franklin (of mineral water fame)...
