STILLWATER, Minnesota (March 23, 2015) Stillwater Public Library is proud to announce the opening of Everyday Brave, Living in Two Worlds a photography exhibit featuring portraits of contemporary Native Americans by Star Prairie, WI, photographer, Tom Lindfors. The show features portraits commissioned by the Stillwater Public Library Foundation in conjunction with this year’s Big Read program selection Love Medicine by Ojibwe author Louise Erdrich.
The exhibition contrasts Lindfors’ early black and white portraits made at powwows with portraits of contemporary Native Americans. Teachers, writers, artists, activists, and other community members express in their own words what it means to be brave. Their stories are presented in English and translated into their native languages.
Lindfors personal work addresses the idea of community and the ways that people with different ideas, different histories, and different cultures learn how to live together. Lindfors believes how...

Gallery Exhibit Focuses on Africa and Its People
Beginning Saturday, September 27, 2014 the River Falls Public Library Gallery presents “Wholeness, Ubuntu: Through the Lens of Africa.” In this exhibit, professional writers and photographers Tom Lindfors and Michele Hermansen share how their Africa experiences have changed their impressions of the continent and impacted their daily lives. They have chosen the Swahili concept of Ubuntu, – how each person’s wholeness is inextricably bound to other people, the natural and the spiritual worlds – as the principal theme guiding their presentation. You are invited to meet the artists at a reception Thursday evening, October 9, from 5-7 p.m. The exhibition continues through Saturday, October 25.
An award-winning photographer, Lindfors uses photography as a tool to explore the importance of community. Hermansen is a photographer and author who leads small-group discovery trips to east Africa. Her perspectives of our global...

Moldova Wine Country Photo Tour focuses on people, traditions, foods, wine making, nature and travel photography. You will have the opportunity to explore some of Romania’s best wineries, taste incredible wines, culinary delicacies, learn how to cook a traditional Moldavian dish, and witness different ways of producing wines, using both traditional and modern methods.
Wine and food have a special place in Romanian culture. According to ancient Greek writings, Dionysos, the God of wine & grape harvests was born on the fertile lands of Thracia, Dacia-Getae (Romania) being in the heart of it.
Wine making in Romania is a 10,000 years old tradition. Wine continues to be Romania’s most popular and highly available drink, besides water. They say that during ancient times, wine was being produced in such huge quantities that forced Burebista, king of the Getae/Dacian people to burn down all the vineyards in an attempt to stop his soldiers from abusing it. Romania is currently...

Live with an attitude of gratitude.
Gratitude can be absolutely transformational. Shifting your perspective from playing the victim or constantly “taking” from life, to being grateful for each moment as it passes, can dramatically shift not only how you show up in life, but also how life shows up for you. In this sense, gratitude is really a lifestyle.-Dr. Maymunah Kadiri

I have been involved in creative arts from a young age watching in amazement as my father restored ancient historical buildings to their original form. He was 1 in 3 in Canada who could do these complex restorations, largely a lost European art. Sad but true.
Unfortunately this technique was not my calling and complex for me to master at the level my father enjoyed. Much to my surprise, it dawned on me, I inherited his creativity, and my purpose was to explore what was my expression of this creativity was to be.
Now I know!
Illustration, graphic design, sketching and painting was done with ease, and what was startling is that it was beyond my father who I believed could anything.
Now, I know all artists are unique and their expression of that talent is their own.
It has been 8 years now that my art has been shared by many, on an international level, for which I am extremely grateful and proud.
This why I would like to...

KAREN ZUK ROSENBLATT is the chosen artist being featured on ISAW (Imaginatively Superior Artworks). Karen loves cats, like a lot of cat lovers out there, but her artwork reflects the 'personality' that some cats have which can be very humorous to watch as humans.
Karen has agreed to having a short interview discussion for the purpose of understanding just a little more about her, views of her own work and the thoughts behind some of her creations.
