Irina Sztukowski's painting French Bakery won the first prize in the contest Countryside.
The artist comments:
This painting is a part of my new collection Sweet Country. This full of sunlight artwork tells the viewer a simple story. In front of us a the evidence of a nice bicycle trip from the farmers market to the bakery one lovely Sunday. The rider is ready to bring home warm freshly baked loafs of bread and sunflowers. This country style French Bakery, is a favorite place for many. The proud owners rising up early to serve delicious bread and pastries to the locals and to all the guest of that sweet vintage village.

This is one of career favorites. Cilley Hill Road, in Jericho Vermont, was near my home and I photographed it many time, but I never was happy with the results. I felt there was something special there with the lone white birch, the trees forming a tunnel and the way the road faded into the distance. One day, I headed out at sunrise and noticed a patch of fog and thought I would explore it. The fog was too thick and again I was let down by the results. I finished packing my view camera and looked up and the fog thinned slightly and it was perfect. I rushed to put my camera equipment together. My view camera is the kind of camera where you put a black cloth over your head and view the image upside down. I made one exposure and the fog lifted and the road went back to being just another dirt road in Vermont.

Public Works picked up the Lincoln Douglas Stl250 cake July 10th for the Let Them Eat Art Event in Maplewood. The cake is on the loose! Great job guys!!!
I originally painted this cake in 2014 for the Stl250 Cakeway To The West 250th Birthday Celebration in St. Louis, Missouri. The 4ft. tall fiberglass cake statue had been outside exposed to the elements for over a year so I refurbished it. I painted four cakes altogether. You can view all the cakes on my Pinterest Public Art Page: Genevieve Esson Art Public Art On Pinterest

Hi my dear friends, so here I am again with a new selected sketch for my next painting The Frog King part of a series of 10 called Märchen
The idea for this one is to capture a balance between acceptance and insatisfaction in her expression, the reason for this is that she still has her love even though in a frog shape however who would be ok with a frog that size at your shoulder.

CUBAN REFUGEE RAFT FOUND ON TEXAS COAST 6/25/2015
We found this Cuban refugee raft washed up on a Texas beach Sunday 6/28/2015 and the story it tells is compelling. The raft showed up Thursday 6/25/2015, just 9 days after Tropical storm Bill, which started 6/13/2015 off the coast of Honduras, where I used to live, and made landfall in Matagorda County Texas on 6/16/2015. We don’t know who was on it; however we surmise that they were Cuban due to a leather glove with CUBA THABA on the label and a dropper bottle of Bactivec labiofam that was found on board the raft, but their journey must have been incredible!
This photo shows how the raft appeared on Friday and the people who took the pictures said it looked like people had just gotten off of the raft. By Sunday when we saw it, and called authorities, many items had already been removed. However there were still T-shirts and other clothing, dried up food in the bottom half of a water bottle, half full water bottles, a...

Manipulated Vegetable Series of paintings on the nature of transformation and change. Some things cannot be mended once they are cut, hurt, changed, or otherwise altered. Things as well as life situation are not always "fixable". Learning out of our mistakes and changes in life can be more fulfilling and life changing than crying over spilled milk.
