Artist Opens New Gallery
One thing has marked Victor Alderson’s various careers, and that is creativity. He is now putting that creative eye into use as an artist, after being a professional photographer for over 20 years in the 1980s and 90s. He has opened his own gallery in Grand Bend. “I started painting just over five years ago, and found I really enjoy it,” Alderson said, “I like painting a variety of things in different styles and it wasn’t long before I had a large inventory of paintings built up.”
The Gallery, located on the north end of the plaza on Queen Street, just off Main Street, is across from Huron Shores United Church. With his various oil paintings covering the walls, Alderson’s versatility is evident. There are beautiful Lake Huron sunsets, nature scenes, aurora borealis in the night sky, birch trees, and then a complete change to the Edmund Fitzgerald on Lake Superior or the Avro Arrow. Some of his works show a touch of abstract, but most are...

September 18th, 2015 - Los Angeles, CA
Los Angeles is certainly an art hub. There are multiple galleries, art shows, festivals and plenty of other opportunities to peruse the work of some of the more unknown artists. The genres seem endless – pencil, oil, watercolor, sculptures, photography, mixed media. One could hardly get to see it all. But within that which is available, there are always a few artists that catch your eye. Following are five local artists whose work may just call to your senses.
Chuck Staley creates acrylic and ink-on-canvas paintings, hand-embellished on-canvas photographs and digital art. His work is full of vibrant colors depicting various sights in Los Angeles – from women shopping in Rodeo Drive to limousines driving by elegant buildings. He is also involved with the arts as a TV director and a screenwriter, but his efforts in the visual arts are making him more known throughout the world.
