Welcome To Our Family.

The rules? No rules; just an expectation that we all "do unto others." In other words, if you want others to promote your work, you should do the same for them. Those of us who take a full part in promoting ourselves and others try to do so for a 24 hour period or longer if possible. That includes opening the Big Skip and promoting the images in there too.

GENERAL INFORMATION AND HOW WE DO THINGS HERE:

Please use the URL for your image postings, rather than the copy and paste code. Posting the photo itself, rather than a link will make it difficult for people who don't have high speed internet, as well it might cause people to skip over your post without promoting.

Only 1 image is allowed per day, both in this discussion and in the group.

There is NO contest vote solicitation allowed on the discussion boards.

If you are posting nudes, or other questionable images, please post a warning notice with your link. There are children here, as well as adults who choose not to look at that type of image.
Please do not post links from your pixels.com account or any other FAA mirror site. It tends to create problems for some people and most will skip those links.

ABSOLUTELY NO images of nudity, death, cruelty or violence of any kind on the main board, where you have no ability to post a warning.

Finally, JUST HAVE FUN!! This is an incredible group of people who will make you feel welcome from your first post!!

TO ALL NEWCOMERS: I realize that some of you are so new to not only the group, but to FAA, that I thought perhaps a little clarification is in order. I'm sure you've noticed that while we can't require anyone to vote/like anyone elses work, we do tend to treat people the way people treat others. But I also realized that you may not have a clue what we're talking about, so........... to "like" someone's work, you click on their blue link, which opens up that particular piece. In the upper right corner, you'll see a few little icons. One is a thumbs up, which is what you press to "like/vote" for that piece of art. Most of us here press that whether we love the work or not. It's how we help each other to move up in the FAA search standings (even though FAA now says it doesn't count for very much, but that's now past history and it is what it is). That's all we ask of you. Should you choose to do so however, you can also click on the little heart (which is to add a work to your own "favorites" list), and you'll also find buttons for the various social media sites if the artist chooses to activate any or all of those buttons. These are the ways we promote each other. You may also choose to vote/like your own submissions. It's perfectly acceptable to do so.

@ Lee..... Is this where you suggested we go today? We were already there by the time you posted. LOL Went to see the church and from there went to Tombstone. It's the Helldorado weekend in Tombstone, and we met a couple of Ruby's friends who were in period garb. From there, we headed over to Boot Hill. I'd already been to Tombstone, but Ken and Ruby had never been there. It was fun. The church was a bit of a problem to photograph, because of signs all over the place, a swap meet there today, and some old cars on display who parked right in front of the main entrance, but I still got enough shots for memories, if nothing else.

Guess I'd better start trying to catch up here.

I survived Pumpkin Palooza 2014. Each month there is an event at work, and todays was all about pumpkins. I was able to get some cute snap shots of the animals getting their pumpkins. The cutest were the otters with their fish filled pumpkin. Even the shark were given a couple.

Hello #53!

Jan Dappen

Hi 53...going back to finish 52.
Got home late from the festival. Good day, not as good as last weekend! but I had a great Visit from ........somebody from our group!!!! Woohoo, Penny Lisowski. visited today from Winder, GA... I was just delighted that she drove up to see me. Rick and I really enjoyed meeting her and her husband Chuck. Lovely people and she gave me some great festival/photographic tips..hoping we get together again soon...Thank you so much Penny...you are the best!
and I did have another interesting visitor....no comparison of course to Penny but Rosalynn Carter was at the festival and she visited my booth. She was campaigning for her grandson Jason for governor. We had a nice chat about Jimmy's artwork . He paints in oils as well. She remarked that they had artwork all over the house and I commented that she had a special look when she said that that reminded me of my husband when he says the same thing. She was caught in the act and laughed. She gave me an address to write her and she would give me a personal tour of Jimmy Carter's paintings. I gave her a small print of my mules to give to Carter because after all, he was a peanut farmer...and she asked the medium, said she would give it to him. It was quite an honor to meet her. You would never suspect she was 87 years old.
Hope you guys have been behaving.
Great pictures Anne...and hello back!

Jan, what an exciting day you've had. I'm so glad the weather is cooperating for you this week too. And what fun it must have been to meet our Penny.

If things go as planned, tomorrow we'll take a ride to see those housing complexes I wanted to check out. I guess we'll have to call in the morning and see if we can come up there before we leave though.

Great story Jan - hope tomorrow goes well too! So nice that Penny came by and then getting to meet a former First Lady too! I turned 18 just in time to vote for Jimmy Carter in '76 and was thrilled to attend a press conference he gave for college newspaper editors at the White House a couple years later - but it was in a large room so didn't get the chance to meet him. I so admire the work that he and Rosalynn have done in the years since he left office with Habitat for Humanity and other causes that really help people. She always seemed like a wonderful person - how exciting to meet her and get to chat in person! Did you know they had a solar shower at the White House when he was president? (Can you guess I'm a tree-hugging Democrat from New York?) They've been married for 67 years - pretty amazing - thought you'd enjoy this clip: http://www.people.com/article/jimmy-rosalynn-carter-67-years-marriage

It's midnight here so thought I'd try to get my Sunday image in before the big skip.

Night all - see you in the am!

Greetings everyone. Just returned today from leading a history-related tour in PA. I managed to find a few moments to capture a few images while on the go. Really missed the group over the past week. I will be working back through #52 over the next few days to see what I missed.

Jan ... what a great moment at the show with Mrs. Carter! Thank you for sharing.

Anne ... enjoy the time away in AZ!

Wow, Jan, that's one amazing day. I love Jimmy Carter - a man of integrity - not quite old enough to vote for him, but old enough to remember how tough he had it during his presidency with the Iranian hostage crisis and awful economy.

Good night.

Probably not many people still up and about but am posting this older photo now as we're heading for the mountains early this morning (Sunday.) Will be my last post for at least a week but I'll check in and try to stay current with votes/likes. Beautiful work from everyone today.

I was pleasantly surprised a few minutes ago. Had a small sale earlier and I believe the buyer left a comment saying she had also spent many a time fishing off the pier (I had made a comment in my narrative about fishing on the pier as a kid with my Dad.) Made me feel good to know my photo brought back nice memories for her.

Sounds like you are having a great time Anne! Hope you get a chance to look at some housing and find something that will fit your needs. You deserve to be living surrounded by beauty and nature.

Yes, Ellen, I am really excited about this trailer. It is something we have been talking about and saving for a few years now. My husband started to drag me out to look at a few rather dilapidated, older trailers, because he assumed that this is all we could afford. That made me realize how quickly he is willing to settle for less compared to me. I suggested we have a look at a place that sells new and nearly new, and we got a new one that was below dealer's price because up here they try not to carry any inventory over the winter. We had to finance a large part of it, but I figured it was better to pay a bit of interest and start using it right away rather than wait, since our years of being fit enough to camp are limited. I now have visions of spending winters in Texas with some camping to explore the state while we are there, and dividing the rest of the year between home and garden work, and camping in the mountains. Retirement is starting to sound exciting! I am also very nervous about it all. This is our first camper, we have never towed one, and there seems to be so much to learn about how to use and care for one. It is only 15 foot, but my husband's driving skills are not as great as they used to be, and I have always been a very nervous driver. I spent all day yesterday reading up, and locating and making notes about possible free or cheap places to stop while we are on route to Texas. I want to avoid driving into cities towing the trailer to find a Walmart or mall that allows overnight parking.

Jan, it sounds like you had such an exciting day!

Nancy, that pumpkin day with the animals sounds like such fun. Were you able to get any pictures? I know you were "on duty"!

Have a great trip Helen, and anyone else travelling. On Friday we are off for our week in Banff. I am hoping the weather holds up nice for it.

@Joey - I used to dream of painting in Paris as a kid - how wonderful it must be! Loved those doors - you really captured them beautifully! Did you paint as you were there, just sketch and paint later, or do you take photos to paint from later on? I'm always so curious about painters. You're so talented!

To all on vacation or with trips coming up - enjoy! Off to do a few more errands around the house, then heading out for a short walk in the nearby woods with my husband as I'm finally feeling a little steadier on my feet. It was supposed to be cloudy today but the sun is now out and it's lovely As Lins would say, laters!

@Terry - I got a couple of ‘snap-shots’ with the iPhone only. Did not even have time for lunch or bathroom break yesterday. I put a few up on Facebook, nothing great though. One of the guests got a great shot of the tigers with the pumpkin, I was so jealous! My team has been doing outstanding this past week. Shattering all expectations of our ‘JV’ team status. I have introduced some new ‘things’ to increase our income during off season, and they came to be proven as good changes. Increased all my numbers that I am judged on. My team is excited, and the momentum is keeping us moving forward. It took us a couple of months and many employee turn overs, but this teams plays well together. Its actually fun to go to work.

I have Tue and Wed off and hoping to get my 'real' camera out and capture some shots.

Belinda, is your power back yet? You are so dedicated, keeping up in the dark!

Question for anyone with work in gallery or other retail outlet - how does that work with payment & sales taxes? Does the gallery/shop send you a monthly check (less commission of course) and they are responsible for the sales tax? I have an opportunity to have some work in a local shop, and just want to ensure I have my ducks in a row before I set pricing. Thanks in advance for taking the time to answer, either here or in a DM.

Hello Everyone!!
Decided to upload my "de-stress" images - no descriptions and very few keywords - doubt the bots will even see them! :) Successfully deleted one of my best-selling images (Death Valley) trying to add it to a new gallery and had to upload it again... :(

Hope everyone is doing fine and nothing too dramatic is going on...

Terry F ~ sorry I missed your "special week" I LOVE your collages so much ~ a belated Congratulations to you!!!!!!
Lynne ~ Congratulations to you on being selected "Special Featured Artist" !!!!!!
Kim ~ Congrats on the sale and passing the Kleenex to ya! (((( HUGS ))))

Work is really tiring these days -- training the operators in India is becoming very stressful - we are running out of time and I can't seem to get them to think "analytically" == as long as it's ABC,123 instructions they're fine -- but "problem-solving" is kicking them in the a$$ :) -- they really need to think in all kinds of directions to figure out what the problem is to begin with, and they just start getting confused... yikes!!!

Oh well - I shouldn't stress about it so much, it is what it is, but still... I feel like there is some magic key phrase I'm missing that will flip the switch to comprehension on... can't help worrying about it.

Going to sign out of FAA before I cause anymore damage to my galleries!!

(((((( Group Family ))))))

Miss you guys!! Take care!!

Jemmy- In my experience, its up to your arrangement with the Gallery -if it is private they usually take care of everything. If it is a charity like a Cultural Alliance board, sometimes but rare, it will go through you. In most cases, the Gallery wants to handle it all.

Linsey- I added a new ruins shoot to my bucket list with your latest post.

Here is Mondays. A great week to everyone.

Night night Terri

Some good news: Got a cover image for a local magazine and a couple inside photos so was prepping the finals after the editor, art director, and production director reviewed a gallery of local snow photos I put together for them. Also working on my bio/artist's statement for the upcoming show and generally trying to catch up with email, clients, housework - 3 weeks of vertigo has put me in a hole but managed a nice walk with my husband yesterday with no dizziness. Not 100% but it's fading. 4-6 weeks is the usual timeframe so at worst I'm halfway through and believe the worst is behind me.

I haven't even looked at twitter (despite lots of auto tweets from here of everyone's work) in ages. Finally managed to get onto twitter briefly till it crashed - thanks much for all the new follows, tweets and retweets,- I had mountains of notifications - was returning the favors when it (twitter) got too busy & crashed but I'll be back on there later and will be sure I'm following everyone and returning all the favors - also I do have a list of FAA people on there & will try to find the link when I'm back on and add all the newbies. Working on a document so I know who's who and can include your hashtags with my tweets so you see them and can fav/retweet your own stuff too. Promise to catch up on all the social media stuff - thanks for the G+ Lee that popped up as an alert on my phone - although it may take a few days. It's 6:10 PM and my husband is on his way home for dinner (very early for him so it'll have to be blue lining to catch up so I can take advantage of an unexpected early dinner and some quality time). More good news :)

Lynne, did I congratulate you here earlier? Went through and liked and faved a bunch of your gorgeous images and left a few comments too.

Had a couple of after the festival sales today, so the sales above are actually real sales..just need to deliver them myself.. One wants me to frame it for her in a $600.00 frame that she found at an estate sale, has some matting size issues...more work for hubby...We had a great weekend. Surpassed my Popcorn sales, but then there were four days instead of three. Got several commissions and three different places asking to hang my work. Had a RETURN Customer from last year! So great Festival!

thank you all for the encouraging words above, you are the BEST!
Finally caught up..long day, unpacking the car, cleaning house and ordering new items.
Looks like we have some Newbies..welcome aboard!

Congratulations on the great show Jan, and to everything else with sales.
We picked up the trailer today, and drove it out to park at our daughter's place in the country. This evening we got a phone call that our trailer was beeping. We hurried out there and found out it is the carbon monoxide detector beeping, no idea why or how to stop it. So we will have to tow it back to the dealership to be checked out. While we were there our car battery died, its never done that before. So one more thing to get checked out. Not going to bother posting anything tonight, I just bluelined anyway.

Another project - working some of my nautical images in black and white. I am just learning to print my own work digitally after so many years since I've been in a darkroom. Hoping maybe by the next show I'll be ready.

@Jan - what a fabulous show you had! Sales and celebs! Bet we'll be handing you out mountains of tissues as your show visitors check out your site and decide they deserve to treat themselves to one of your lovely paintings they fell in love with at the show.

@Joey, thanks for answering my question about your painting - I love the HD video concept - you can see the changing light - brilliant way to paint from life even when you've returned home! I have a real penchant for those fabulous ancient doors in Paris and other wonderful European cities, built before we were even colonies over on this side of the pond. Really enjoying your beautiful series.

@Ella - you & your Mom are in my prayers. Glad she came through the surgery okay but I really feel for her - what an awful thing!

@Lee - Your Sonoran Desert image reminded me of my recent trip to Arizona - I never thought an East Coast girl like me who is clearly in love with the water could fall in love with Arizona, but, like @Anne, another easterner, I was smitten. When we retire - and it'll be quite a while since my husband is still in his 40's (Yes, if you do the math he's younger than I am) - I so want to spend part of the year there. I know why you're so excited Anne and I wish you all the best of luck with your move.

@Terry - Best of luck with the trailer - can't wait to hear about all your adventures.

@Ellen - Good luck with the cat statues!

I wanted to make it an early night so better sign off as it's already 1 AM. Good night and good morning to the overseas crowd when you guys pop by.

Terry F - Sorry you're having trouble with your new camper. Those monitors - sheesh - I've taken the LP monitor out of our camper permanently, since I can't seem to find one that doesn't go off in the middle of the night (even when our LP is completely shut off). I've replaced it and our carbon monoxide monitor a few times, but they still don't work properly. I know it's a safety issue, but then so is having a heart attack at 3 am! Hope you get yours fixed, so you can enjoy Banff!

Jemmy, what is an LP monitor? I don't know if we have one of those. There is so much new that we have to learn and real safety issues if we don't. We are going to Fernie, not Banff (much the same but not as spectacular) and we are not taking the trailer. This will be the last year using our time share resort. We had to get rid of it because the costs were just skyrocketing. Which means the poor dogs have to stay home and I will be worrying about them constantly. Our son lives in our basement apartment, and our grandson two doors down, so even though neither is terribly reliable between the two they should get fed and outside a few times a day. That will be the great part about camping, it will be a family thing.

Forgot to say congratulations to all those with sales. Lins, your patience really paid off with that one! Looks like you wore him right out.

Note to self - I am not jealous! I am not jealous!!
For a while I had been feeling good with my sales on here averaging about one a month, enough to keep the ego stoked. Then in April they seemed to just dry up, with the exception of one card to a fellow group member. I don't understand it because I am finally reaching the point where I am getting happier with my work, at least I do not hate most of it when I come and look back at it a few months later. But then my tastes have always been different from the norm.

Wonderful Wednesday,
Wonderful Artwork,

I am fixing to take a wonderful hot bath. Our son came over last night to help his dad get the water heater in the attic. It was too much for me as a second hand. I had to take a hobo bath with microwaved hot water. Brings back a few memories :-)))

Enjoy your bath Ella, when our heating broke down last winter we had the kettle and four pans of water on the hob and boiling continually for about half an hour running back and forward trying to fill the bath, that's when I wished I had a smaller bath but it was great eventually!!

Good afternoon. Well it is here anyway.

DUMB AND DUMBER HAVE LEFT THE BUILDING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now to make the most of the peace and quiet for a short time, until the next batch arrives. So still not sure if this idiot will be the new neighbour or not as yet.

Posting a bit early! Thanks for all the well wish re my back and Congrats on all those Sales!!!

Today was mostly a big waste as I had upgraded to the new PS Cloud 2014 version which is a new stand alone version a few days ago. All was working well after I reinstalled Nik Collection so I decided to uninstall the prior version of PS. Big mistake. 5 hours later, 2 hours with an Adobe Support person working on my desktop remotely, I am now back to square one, the previous working version, and an extra 2014 version that crashes every time I open it. I'm afraid to uninstall it. Since I hadn't yet discovered what the new version's benefits were, guess I'l leave things as they are!

Ella, prayers for your mom...and sorry about the water heater.. :(
Bob nice front yard!
Terri, thank you...you did the wonderful work!!
Lins, cannot wait to hear who actually moves in...meanwhile, pass the Baileys, speaking of Baileys...
so tonight I am at friend's house celebrating his birthday when I get a phone call. I look at the caller ID and it is from Knoxville TN..I'm thinking I don't know anyone from Knoxville, but answer anyway. In a really thick, slurring voice I hear, "Is this Jan, the artist...you know the one that painted Popcorn?" I answer yes, it is...and "he says, good then it isn't a robot number but a real person?" I say yes again, I'm real. He starts blabbing on and on about do I remember him from Cocke County Fairgrounds (yes that's the name of the Fairgrounds for the Popcorn Jam-you can't make this s*&^ up!) that he was a photographer and he bought that popcorn, not the real big one but the real little one? And the sad thing is, I do remember him, asking him to stop taking pictures of my prints. He says well every time my friends see this picture, their jaws drop and they want one too. But my buddy from Kentucky wants that big one you had up, you know which one I'm talking about right? and I say yes and he says.....Well can he have it for $500.00? I say of course he can ( I was only asking $450.00 LOL and lowered it to $350.00 last weekend and sold it.) After many attempts he says so how can he get it? I tell him to call me tomorrow because the connection is bad (the one in his head) and we will set the sell up. He says okay I can't hear you too good either. You know he really knew how to make his moonshine. I said yes that is what I hear, I will wait for your call tomorrow.

no post tonight

Condolences to all in Canada - awful news.

@Lins - so Happy for you that D&D are gone. I just got an email earlier from a neighbor complaining about the leaves from my trees landing in her yard - I kid you not. I'm not sure how she can tell which yellow maple leaves are from her trees and which are from ours. But she's worried her gardener is going to charge her more for cleaning them up. It's been so windy lately the same leaves are probably blowing back and forth between our two yards.

Congrats on all the sales.

@Belinda - glad you got a new twitter thread going and that your back is feeling better!

Good morning everyone. Thanks for taking a look at my latest.

We had to cut our trip very short and return to Florida due to medical problems so needless to say, I didn't get much photographing done. Did manage a few shots but not much. We'll take another few days away soon ...

Congrats to all with sales. The little wench has been very, very busy around here. Passing tissues to those afflicted!

Went back 24 hours and had to blueline to catch up. Will resume commenting etc after a good nights sleep.

To all of our Canadian friends ... so sorry to hear the news on Wednesday. Seems no place is safe any longer. Praying for all those affected by this latest tragedy. So much evil in the world today.

Good morning to our friends across the pond. Will be back later.

Thanks for all the nice comments on my image, it is very much appreciated. Since he all but destroyed the tree last year, maybe I will sell some to help the budget for a new tree or at least one new ornament.

The stroll through everyones art gallery was a wonderful way to start what may be a really stressful day. Only time will tell. I have two employees who over the past couple of days have been sent home early because of being too sick to stay. Todays staff is myself and both of them. Keeping my fingers crossed that at least one of them makes it in.

Jemmy: the water heater is in the attic above the garage. we have water stain on the ceiling but no other damage. will have to think about painting. Heater had a pan under it to catch the overflow and the overflow drain but it looks like it blew out from the top and made a watery mess. Thankful for no other damage. Thank you for asking.

Talked with mother again yesterday. She has gone for her first wound therapy. Looks pretty good but still swollen and puffy. Doctor waiting another week before removing stitches. She sounded much better during this conversation. Thank you all for asking about her.

Afternoon all, well it is here.

Donna, so glad you and Sammy are begining to settle down. {{{{{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}}}}}

Blimey Belinda sometimes you could just get a lump hammer to these pooters and the ruddy so called upgrades of this and that. Bloody nightmare that the time is wasted on the damn things. However, having said that I wouldnt be without them. Thanks for the Bailey's.

LOL Jan @ Cockes fairground. Congratulations on that sale, thats fantastic.

Marianne my jaw dropped when I read about the leaves. I mean, strike a light for heavens sake. Has this person got nothing else to worry about! Geez some people need a damn good kick up the arris dont they.

Helen, so sorry you had to cut your trip short. Hope all is now well?

Ellen, glad to hear your mum is doing better.

Terri I hope you are having a good time without that @#$£% today

Well. The chap that had the Labrador pic done was happy today and so was the lady who bought the two big canvases. She wants me to take pics of her dog to, this one is another Labrador but cream this time. Also she wants pics done of her family, which I wont look forward to but at least I managed to persuade her to have some informal images done instead of posed pics. Dont know when that will happen as its a matter of geting them all organised. I think there is a big tribe of them so it could be a lucrative prospect. Got a small decorating job to do for someone else to, in the near future.

Ah well I wish every week was as good as this one. Its a lovely feeling to see your pics done in a large format as these were. Mind you I can see loads of faults for heavens sake. But hey I took the dosh and thanked her very much as that will pay for my petrol when I go to the lakes in December. I hope you guys havnt forgotten the B & B and the pub is booked for you all?

Belinda - for how much they charge I think PS has a lot of "quirks". I had the entire suite (CS 5.5) on my Windows computer when one day PS decided to crash every time. I was on the phone with Adobe for hours, installing, uninstalling, etc. Finally they had me set up another user on my computer & that user could use PS. Tried to explain to them the idea of having the entire suite was to be able to go from PS to Illustrator to Fireworks and back and I could't do that with separate users. Got fed up and bought a MAC :)

Belinda, so frustrating when the things that are supposed to make our lives better end up costing us so much time. My computer has been funny since it updated itself to Windows 8.1 (which I couldn't figure out how to stop it from doing), but I guess I should be thankful that it mostly works. Sorry for your wasted day...

Ella, I'm glad the damage was minimal, and that you're mom is doing well with her recovery.

Lins & Ellen – Thank you. It has taken some time but Sammy & I are doing better. I cannot say Isabella’s name or say “sissy” because he will go and look for her, otherwise he is fine and seems happy. His Grandma (my mom) checks on him on the days I work, so he is getting spoiled.
Ella – happy to hear your mother is doing well

Linsey that is such great news - Love your "big" sales and a wonderful opportunity on the commissioned work!

I miss Pamela too! Didn't realize she would be away this long. Pam, Come back!
Donna Glad you and Sammy are healing - it takes a long time and rightly so.
Marianne - no new twitter thread - same one as always! :) @BelindaGreb
Terry and others - I have been a Mac user for decades now, so no computer crashes - just software crashes. I resisted going to Adobe PS Cloud - was happy with CS 5 Suite and have been okay with the Cloud product, until this "new" 2014 version. I'm just happy the older Cloud version is working again. Can't do without my Photoshop! But I hate doing any type of upgrade, always some compatibility issue with other software or printers, etc.

Have a good day.

Well glad to find out that Anne was not lost in the desert! Hi Anne, we miss you! Hope you are having fun..
Lins and Lee, there was a photographer not too long ago that set up an old red couch on the porch of that Old Homestead (Gates Chapel) I painted, and the family was all over the couch and hanging on to the posts in dungarees. One was even lying on the back of the couch. I would have loved to see the pics. I have seen them do that in a field too.. There is a photographer that does my niece's family every six months and she does great posed/not so posed pics. She is Martina's Photography, LLC on Facebook. She has some great shots with horses too. Check her out for some casual ideas for people.. Maybe you can add some dogs or other animals with your people shots! That would be right up your alley.

I just learned that I have a new brother and sister. They are 8 wk old kittens. I thought for sure they would name at least one of them puss-puss since that is what my dad has always called every cat we have ever owned. I would think that would make it easy for him to remember. My mom however lacks imagination at naming pets apparently. One looks like their old cat HeyMon (he was very laid-back and yes I named him!) they named her Cutie Pie, and the other looks like my Noli, his name is Trouble Bubble (if he is like my little old fuzzy butt that makes sense, but still even 'fuzzy butt' would be a better name than trouble.

The doctor suggested that a cat would be a good thing for my dad - guess mom thought 'if one is good, two will be even better'. Hopefully they keep their door closed or Cutie and Trouble will be coyote bait.

Then what's really strange is when I was in Bridge today it opened up PS CC 2014 ( I forgot to direct it to the old version) and 2014 is now working with Nik Collection and Topaz Denoise! Bizarro. At least it wasn't like it started working when the tech support was there remotely and they think you're crazy! :) He saw what it was doing.
Sorry about your vacation ending Kim. Have fun with your kids Anne.

Congratulations Vadim!

Good night!

@Jan, I'm trying to figure out the ice cream,,,but cold on the nose is a good thing.
@Anne, glad you are not lost in the desert! Beautiful place, enjoy visiting your kids!
@Belinda, glad your back is better, and sounds like your computer is better too!
@Alan, you get better now!

Great couple of new avatars! So I decided maybe I need a new one too, so I tried again, was about ready to hit "submit" and I got a warning, "if you continue and hit submit, it will be the end of the internet as we know it",,,,,so I hit cancel instead.

@Deb,,ahh,, the saga of the Tutuman,,,(soon to be out in a book, so I can go on the booking signing world tour with our world famous writer, and now a world famous animal photographer Linsey ),,,,, ,gee where does one begin explaining the "Tutuman"
@Lins! what a great week for you!

Sales Fair Flu -- now they tell me. I just got my flu shot on Tuesday, and they told me it would protect me from all the major strains going around, so I guess I am just out of luck till Spring.

Had to blue line to catch up, am not going to post anything.

We are off to Fernie tomorrow morning. I hope to keep caught up, but I hope more to be having too much fun to be able to.

Ordered the Bag pipes for your sales processions...

I have to apologize to the hand full of you that share my work; I can only L and F for the next couple days. My schedule just went into the red.

Jan, the visual cracked me up but I sincerely hope that you are ok...

Looking forward to tomorrow. We have a huge Zombie walk downtown. I am trading photography work with a friend of a friend who does the makeup work for the Walking Dead, Gotham and some other movies. She is doing my zombie clown face and a few other friends for me. Cannot wait!

Also, got home and checked my voicemail. Had a call from a Los Angeles curator that said he wants to go over my portfolio with me next for an initial 6 week commitment! I am not sure what it means, but I am excited to find out in the morning!

Just spent over two hours uploading my 2nd painting from Wednesdays workshop! I'm going to post it now for my Friday image while the computer is semi playing nicely and there are no children banging into me!
I've been liking and faving from the ipad with some FB shares - can't use it to tweet/g+ - I try to get this behemoth to let me do as manyof those as possible.

Hi Ellen - you're up late! I'm sorry you and a number of others are having IT issues, hope they get resolved! They are so frustrating!! Ellen yours sounds horrendous, 2 hours to upload! But love seeing your paintings!

Great new Avatars, need to change mine sometime but I'm always the one with the camera so have very few photos of me! I had to take the one of me with my iPad!

Jan, sounds agony!! Did the ice cream fall from the freezer, happens to me when I cram things in!! Often it's my toes that get it!

This SFF is spreading fast, wonder if it will head over to Alan and me!! Lins and Terri, you've had your fair share this week!! Commiserations to everyone with promising events and sales!! I went to Costco yesterday to stock up on the tissues!

Good morning...wow, what a bunch of talented people above...loved the art, only got back to last night with likes, favs and tweets and a few comments, sorry, I'm not posting anything if that helps. I have an appointment today too...no not the NOSE...thank you for your concern or perhaps I should say you are welcomed for the Laugh...
Okay, so we have two refrigerators to store all the ice cream (not really, well maybe a little bit true) and this one is in the basement. Rick stores a lot of paper towels and toilet paper (too much info?) on top of the frig. I would like to say I moved the ice cream to reach for something healthier, but it just wouldn't be true and you probably wouldn't believe me anyway. So I had to move some big roast to get to the ice cream and in order to put the roast up, I set ice cream on top of the paper towels.., pretty high above the nose...and of course when I looked up to reach for the ice cream, down it came hard on my nose...
but I am okay!

I've seen it mentioned a few times about not being able to vote more than once, but I seem to be able to vote as many times as I like! Just went back into the last one I voted to double check and yes it accepted the same fav vote twice!

Helen, what was strange was that I thought the same, I went back in and commented but I was sure I'd done it on the iPad last night! Also between me going to bed and getting up this morning, I didn't have a comment which is very very unusual!!

Maybe I'm imagining it but strange you thought the same!

Helen & Lynne. I've noticed when posting with iPad that often the image has changed to a different one while I'm entering my comment. Almost like it goes into slideshow mode. It doesn't seem to do that if I use the smaller comment icon beside the like and fave icons. So I stopped using the post comment area below the description.

I have some wonderful news to share with y'all. While here in AZ, I went to check out an apartment complex that I was very interested in. Filed an application, and just learned it was accepted. We're doing it as a wait list, since I probably won't be ready before June, unless I get a buyer for my Florida condo, but good Lord willin' and the crick don't rise, I'm on my way to beautiful Arizona for good.

If anyone is interested, this is where I'll be moving to.

Hey gang, I've been playing around with the new changes that will be happening come January 2015. Here's the discussion thread http://fineartamerica.com/showmessages.php?messageid=2159912

So for the past hour or so this is what I came up with http://cindi-ressler.artistwebsites.com/index.html
It was pretty easy to do, just deciding what colors to choose was toughest, but I am slightly concerned that with the behind the scenes page and even the tabs I can't find my groups. Now I may not be able to see them right now, but I'm gonna find out and let you know.

Morning all, John you're up late!

Posting early as we're in a bit of a quandary! Meant to be travelling to the Isle of Mul for the weekendl, where we have a cottage but there are high/ gale force winds forecast and not sure whether the ferries will be on. It's a couple of hours drive and Davids worried we can't get off the island as the winds are worse on Sunday and he's an important meeting on Monday which he must attend! Getting ready to go but may cancel after phoning the ferry terminal when it opens!

Posting mine for Friday late - a car accident this morning hit the telephone/electric pole in front of our house so I was sparing with my computer & iPhone use to conserve the batteries - minor injuries to the passenger but a seatbelt and airbags saved the day. They managed a temporary fix with a second pole for now.

I don't know how you guys who do shows all the time with way more photos than I have for this one manage. My daughter helped me re-pack the photos for my show after I signed the backs and labeled them and it took forever! Then again I spent nearly two days writing and re-writing my Artist Statement and agonizing over my price list. After all the time just re-packaging (some of the packaging was damaged so I had to improvise and also make them manageable sizes to get them the several blocks from the municipal lot to the gallery tomorrow. I'm so glad that when people approach me through my website and ask about framed prints I direct them to FAA.

Anyway, exhausted but so achy so 20 minutes with a heating pad and I'm off to bed. Hoping I can get in all my likes up to my last post otherwise will finish tomorrow before I post for Saturday. Missing the convo so (((HUGS))) and congrats to all who need and/or deserve them :-D

I spent half the day in make up with my friends.. Had a blast scaring people last night..

Spoke to the curator. Boorrraahhh! Unknown to me, Los Angeles has been deemed the new Cultural arts capital in the US (don't kill the messenger). And, the Los Angeles County restaurants association has jumped on board. So they hired the curator to hang art in their restaurants (that can be sold). He said that I am one of the artist chosen for the 4 and 5 star restaurants! And, depending on how well we show, it is a stepping stone for shows at our various museums. Kicker is that I have to raise my prices on the prints that they pick. I am meeting with them Tuesday morning.. Just the thought that the museums curator even looked at my portfolio has me on cloud nine! Soooo pumped!!!!!

Ok, time to catch up

Hi There

@ Linsey - I don't have experience with pancake lenses, but I do hear good things about them

@ Cindi - When trying to comment on your image, it asked me to sign in again.

@ Anne - I wonder if your new place is affiliated with the Sun Valley Lodge in Sun City, that offers a similar service. (Independent and assisted living)

the new FAA website is OK. I like to have my galleries on the homepage and that looks not all that much different from the old one and they still have the whole bio on the home page and on a repartee tab. I have already 3 domain names. 2 with GoDaddy, including my personal photography site thru Zenfolio www.rudyumans.com and one for my consulting business with Network Solutions. The third one is for future use. I only paid a couple of bucks for each.

Lins, I was gonna tell you all I know about pancakes was I like them with blueberries, but I did find this:
Canon’s newly announced EF 40mm f/2.8 Pancake Lens has a focal length that places it squarely in that bland category known as “Normal.” Even used with an APS-C size sensor, it lands on the outskirts of “Normal,” with a view equivalent to 64mm in full-frame format. Several highly prized features help the EF 40mm lens rise above the crowd, however. Most importantly for video shooters; STM technology is a camera-body based attribute that, when paired with an STM designated lens, offers smooth and silent continuous autofocus while capturing video.

Normal lenses are approximately 50mm in focal length. The normal lens is, for many, their default lens—a versatile, everyday tool that’s the jack of all trades. It’s the lens to pack when you‘re only carrying one. Step back and you can use it for “wide-angle” photo situations. Step up, and it can fill in as a portrait lens. It doesn’t provide a creative “crutch” in the form of natural distortion and drama, the way that an extreme wide-angle or telephoto lens does. It’s a lens that will show you how good a photographer you really are. It’s an extremely important lens for any photographer to own.

The EF 40mm lens is a pancake lens—it’s less than 1 inch long, and weighs only 4.6 oz. This is not a lens that draws unnecessary attention to itself—or to you. A bright f/2.8 maximum aperture makes it possible to shoot under pretty much any lighting conditions, and the lens coatings have been optimized to seriously reduce ghosting and flare, while maintaining exceptional color balance. Six elements, including one aspherical element, produce consistently high image quality from the center of the frame to the edge. With seven diaphragm blades, the wide f/2.8 aperture, and the ability to focus as close as 11.8 inches, this is a crackerjack lens that also offers superlative bokeh—the out-of-focus background area in an image.
Focal Length 40mm
Comparable Focal Length in APS-C Format 64mm
Maximum Aperture f/2.8
Camera Mount Type Canon EF
Format Compatibility 35mm Film/Full-Frame Digital Sensor; APS-C size sensor
Angle of View 57.3 degrees
Minimum Focus Distance 11.81" (30 cm)
Groups/Elements 4 groups/6 elements
Diaphragm Blades 7
Autofocus Yes
Front Filter Thread 52mm
Dimensions 2.7 x 0.9" (6.86 x 2.29 cm)
Weight 4.6 oz (130 g)

Need to check out the new FAA format, and tsu - will use your referral link @SteRa if I decide to join.

Big THANKS to all of you who've featured my work in your groups. Have been trying to include you in my tweets and am working on shorter titles for my work so there's more room for hashtags. I also plan to add some tweets with links to the group home pages as I make may way back into the social media scene.

Thanks for checking my link guys, I thought I could use the artist websites to post here, but apparently not.

As far as the domain names it's all pretty easy to do, go to godaddy.com enter the domain name you want to use, then you pick the one you want and buy it. You don't need to create a website at godaddy. Just the domain. Like Jemmy says it's so easy. As I played around with different names, I noticed the price can vary. Like I tried cressler and it was $3888.00, but when I added cresslerphotography it came down to $2.99 and that's for a .com .net or .org brought the price down considerably for the cressler. Anyway just a heads up.

Have a wonderful evening

Kim,
I tried for a few hours this morning to work with version 2. It let me change the colour once and I didn't like the look and it was downhill from there on. It asked me to log in again and then said my email was incorrect.
I emailed Tech Support and posted as asked in the New Artist Websites thread.
Abbie replied to me at a quarter to 8 tonight (GMT) but I can forgive the delay as they have a lot on their plate, but she only suggested
"Please log off the site altogether (FAA also) Clean out your browser cache totally. Come back." which had already been suggested by kind folks on the thread and I had done over and over again.

I love the look of the new AW's but if this goes live before they sort this I'm scuppered and it seems now it isn't only me. Don't want to be pleased at that for the sake of the other sufferers but at least I know it isn't my lappy.

Thanks Deena, done that loads and taken the plug out and blew on the pins and went for a soak in the bath but nothing helped

Thanks much for the congrats on my upcoming show (Though I was zooming through I think our brains just respond to our names in print even when we're skimming or am I just a narcisist?

Haven't tried fiddling with the new site or even reading about it yet. My domain names with godaddy.com even with fees for certain extras are about $30-40 for 2 years - hosting can be about $250 for a five year deal.

@SteRa -Joined your geology group but you may be sorry I did! I was Editor in chief of the newspaper at Smith College my sophomore year my geology class met early the morning after our bi-weekly deadline nights, so I managed to scrape by because my professor gave thought I had a good ensue of humor. For example, out on a hike in the Berkshire Mountains of Massachusetts she pointed to a rock formation, asked me to id it, and I answered that it was some kind of rock that does not even occur in this hemisphere LOL! (She did) Thank goodness she thought my deadpan expression was a joke rather than realizing I was dead serious! I am as meticulous as possible in researching my photos, but feel free to correct me (in private please via email) if you notice any goofs. If the items I post aren't really what you mean by geology, I'll still be your buddy and won't take any rejections personally. Deal? Of course, now I know you're an expert, I might pick your brain when I'm particularly stumped on identifying something - but only after an exhaustive search in my nature guides and on google. I don't expect you to review my 1000's of photos from Iceland and the rest of the world. CONGRATS on forming the new group. Good luck with it!
