Native Floridian D. Hackett has been fascinated by nature all of her life. In 1979 she started bird watching and quickly became a member of the Audubon Society. Her love of animals and nature lead her to the National Wildlife Federation and she has turned her 10 acre property into a Certified Wildlife Habitat, Gopher Tortoise Habitat and Tree Farm.
A late starter as an artist, and with no formal education in art or photography, she has spent years observing and photographing the outdoor beauty she now draws.
She has always been fascinated by nature and how the same things can be so different. It is captivating to see how nature changes with every second and the wildlife, with their unique personalities are mesmerizing. While watching storm clouds on a summer night, sunrises, sunsets, birds or animals she attempts to capture God’s beauty in photographs and art.
Drawing and Photography gives her a way to record her experiences and encounters in the outdoors. She treasures trips to other states, especially the rugged landscapes of Alaska. Trips to other countries and tropical locations are a favorite and being at the beach is the most soothing location for her. God's Creation never ceases to amaze her, and she is compelled to capture its natural beauty through photography and drawings.
D. Hackett works primarily in pencil on paper, using a variety of toned papers in drawing mostly North American landscapes and wildlife. Her drawings on toned paper are kept simplistic, and add texture. Though she received no formal artistic training, her personal style developed, favoring using pencil, colored pencil, colored markers and soft pastels. Birds continue to remain a favored subject, though her repertoire has expanded to include animals, butterflies, trees and landscapes.
D. Hackett specializes in nature and wildlife photography, but is also enjoys the beauty in old homes and buildings.
This gallery of photographs from D. Hackett collection includes images of wildlife, scenic natural landscapes, nature, and old buildings.
