Painting and crafting have been a part of my life ever since I can remember. As a child I learned by watching my father and great aunt. I had wonderful art teachers in school who encouraged creativity. When I began to seriously paint , I first worked in oils and attended the Roslyn School of Painting. Other than that I am a self taught artist - looking forward to each day and anything new I can learn.A few years ago I took up watercolors and am loving the experience.
Painting is a meditation to me - it brings me peace and joy. Sometimes my paintings are planned and sometimes they seem to create themselves. The process is exciting. My inspiration comes from my local country surroundings, trips to Canada, New England, Arizona and New Mexico . I have a passion for the Southwest, Native American themes( fueled by my years spent learning from and assisting a Cree medicine man),mountains clouds,mountain lions and water.The rest comes from my sometimes overactive imagination. After a very serious illness I look for joy in every day. I live to paint and share with others. One of my greatest joys is seeing my grandchildren grow up and painting and crafting with them.
My name is Ellen Lynn Levinson which I have shortened to Ellyn for my signature.
