"I've labored long and hard for bread,
For honor, and for riches,
But on my corns too long you've tread,
You fine-haired sons of bitches." -Black Bart 1877

"(Stagecoach Mary) Fields stood 6 feet tall and weighed about 200 lbs, and liked to smoke cigars. She usually had a pistol strapped under her apron and a jug of whiskey by her side."

Part of the Chew Ranch along the Utah-Colorado border.

This gives you an idea of the isolation that the Chew Ranch was in. It's not quite in site, but it is about a mile from the river you see at the center of this photo. When the Stacker in the other image was built the Chews who built it had known Butch Cassidy, since the canyon is part of the route between Browns Park and Robbers Roost.

A little piece of trivia about Arizona....it was the last and 48th state for a long time. When the territory applied to the U.S. government to become a state, they were turned down....told they were just a bunch of "Cowboys and Indians."

While it may not exactly be Cowboys or Indians, the Saguaro is definitely a symbol of the old/wild west.
