Description
This phone booth became for me, a piece of sculpture alongside the highway that runs the length of Whidbey Island, Washington. As sometimes happens, the day I was ready to paint it, there was rain. I painted this from my photograph. Other people feel the same way about this booth, many considering it the unofficial marker between the liberals to the south and the conservatives to the north. I didn't think about "obsolescence" when painting this, but now when I see phone booths I've noticed they are real head turners.
