Description
In 1903 this lighthouse replaced the first one to be built on Puget Sound. In 1917 my Grandfather served in the army at Fort Casey, also located here. He would sit on the grass and write love letters to my Grandmother who he met on leave in Seattle. She was a librarian and that's probably why we still have his letters. This is a very romantic scene to me.

Lovely painting of the lighthouse, Perry. Congrats on selling a print of it! There's something special about lighthouses. I have a couple I've been contemplating painting and your watercolor has inspired me to get going on one. Loved your story about your grandfather.

Thanks for your comments. Just want to add that my Grandfather I mention in my description above, was a Creek Indian. Growing up in Oklahoma he'd see the Army guys on horses and so, joined to get his own. The Army put him in artillery instead and sent him here. He thought the landscape so foreign, he might be on Mars or something. Came to love the country though, obviously, since I'm still here.
