Description
This spot is near the main highway on Whidbey, and most people pull off here to dig clams. An elderly gentleman told me that the foundation pilings were for an old mill that use to stand here. The pond was hand-built, and like now, fills with water during high tide. In the old days they had a dam and could control flow so that if a farmer had some grain to grind or logs to saw, they would lower the dam and the flow would power a turbine. Tidal power ! We should learn from the past.
