For over 7 years I have been working in my spare time on a film that incorporates traditional art such as oil paintings and pencil drawings with 3D digital animation creating virtually every aspect from the minds eye.
The intended release date for the film is early June 2013.
I would like to share the last 6 months progress with all of you by posting works in the film as I approach the final renderings.
Please feel free to comment: tell all of us your experience with film & animation.
Ed, I will start next week rendering the high definition frames for the film. Yesterday, I estimated around 3 months of computer rendering time. Almost all of the sets have been built and most of the artwork is complete. as the renderings take place, I will periodical post one on this thread. Thanks to all of you artist for your encouraging words and support on this project.
Here's an oil painting that will be included in the film:
I'm in awe of your work .... Really nice work... and reflections!

Thanks Alisa! I will check out the invite....Currently I am engaged in teaching robotics, animation and engineering while producing said film and working full-times as an engineer. post production, my efforts will be poured into a start-up corporation......
...efforts will be poured into a start-up corporation ...Excellent - so much work in this!
Good luck and successful promotion ...
Any image dealing with fantasy or science fiction....
I'll keep hoping...it was a pleasure you for taking the time
A blast from the past:
Below are some links to some very small very low res. GIF format animations I had composed about 5years ago with other artist cooperation, artwork and permission. We had a lot of fun making these experimental animations.
Thanks Victoria! The first trailer will be out most likely in April 2013. Still looking to secure some royalty free music. found several potential sources.
Good royalty free does not mean free, It just means, once purchased, no continuing payment goes to the artist.
AnnaJo, I surely am grateful for all of yours and everyone's kind comments and support for this project. It is greatly appreciated and it give me the encouragement to continue with enthusiasm with the film. During the many long hours with an element of tedium, everyone's kindness helps, tremendously,
This experimental film was the most complicated of all the experimental clips. There was 5 different programs used, one I developed using C++:
One for the digital painting
Two for the 3D animation
One for the water reflections
One for the muti-layer control
Thank you so much Joe for your encouragement. Patience is the key and long term planning takes patience. I look at it as if I were working on a doctoral and this was my final thesis. the good thing is; no university can claim the rights to the film.......just me with the help and guidance of God.
After around 5 years of not drawing anything of importance (while I was in night school getting my engineering degree), I drew this pencil drawing.
This will make it in the film. I did a digital colored version of the drawing but most likely, the original version will be selected:
While extensive time and energy was put into the creation of this animated character, she was too complicated to use as the main character in the film. The main character was design for production with ease of animation in mind. So much learning came from this proto-type and many clips were developed, they are being weaved into the film along with many experimental clips.
The final scenes to be constructed of coarse are usually the most refined. The scenes below are no exception.
They evolve multiple characters interacting with one another with an environment that was created with experience from previous work.
The is the opening set of the film. Of course it is the last set and set of scenes that are being worked on during the film animation process.
The scene for the most part is empty but will be filled soon. most of the animation is already done but some close ups and alternates are needed.
For the film release date: at first this release date was slated for mid June 2013. It looks like the last part of July is more realistic and a teaser/ trailer should be out in June.
Thank you so much Roz. After the film is released, I will begin teaching 3d animation on several software platforms. one day I hope my students and I will be able to produce a major feature film that will launch their film making careers.
