Is Your Heart Racing When You See This?

Photography Prints
My wife told me she can't look at this because it makes her heart race is that a good thing as far as art goes?

i don't know about race. maybe a beach ball? or a spin art project.

are you sure your wife isn't just ...saying things? maybe you can ask her to be more verbose so she can explain why this effects her so.

Not sure why the black around the eye (or the beach ball) is cropped off.

The question " is it a good thing"
I assume you mean 'is it a good thing that my wife's heart is racing', rather than 'is the art a good thing.'
No, I don't think it is a good thing that her heart races when viewing. It could be caused by excitement, fear, or an undisclosed medical problem to name a few.

To the original post...racing heart is typically not a symptom associated with seeing good art.

Viewing good art is known to cause nausea, vomiting, itchy palms, slippery elm, third eye, amnesia, hysterical pregnancy, convulsions, and the sudden sensation of weightlessness.

So no, this did not have the symptoms associated with good art. Take two placebos (the red ones, not the blue) and call your physician in the morning.

Hmmm...

Do you sketch these before working in the color?

I can't tell if that was a critical assesment or not harrington how about this one!

Are you sure it's not you making her heart race?

Robert Kernodle

... heart not racing, but mind is wondering ...

... why would what appears to be an infantile rendition of lifesaver candy (or is it a bloodshot eye?) cause any sort of elevated activity? What sort of crayons did you use? Maybe your wife is allergic to something in the crayons.

Is your heart racing when you read this? If so, then you are having a fairly normal reaction to biting criticism.

No,, it reminds me one of those old fashion electric fan, it has a cooling effect for me. feel the breeze?

Perhaps she means that it is very busy and it makes her feel anxious. The composition on both these make me feel anxious. If that is what you are going for, then it would be a good thing.

It looks like an eye and the eye's blood vessels to me.

cynthia i went to your profile to find something your mom would love. but it all pretty awesome! nice work!

Cynthia Decker

Thanks Blaine! What I meant by my comment was that when somebody loves you, they have an especially strong reaction (usually positive) to things you create. Also they don't want to hurt you even if they don't love what you've done. So don't expect the reaction of your beloved to be the average reaction of all viewers.

Grandparents are the most notorious for this, you could show them the towel you used to dry your hands and they'll call it a masterpiece. :-)

I agree with Cynthia. I don't believe a word anybody I know tells me about my work. You just can't trust what they say. Doesn't mean it ISN'T good, just they may be worried about your feelings if it isn't.

The #1 indicator, to me, is when a stranger pulls out their wallet and gives you MONEY for what you did.

maybe, good pastels are fun but i was coloring with my kids with crayolas last night and we were having a good time!

Blaine,

Artists here on FAA totally aside, I have had some amazing reactions from non artists who are not family.

Some very intelligent folks like my concept. That does not make them buyers, but interested only, for now.

I am having a large chunk of rejection. My art is so new, like most digital art, that most galleries dont know what
will sell. Most people dont know if they want to hang it. Most people dont have a great feel that they have seen
this work over and over again and want it hanging in their homes.

Of course I am selling to most people, but only need a few at a time to buy. I dont need most people to buy.

I know you are having fun, so am I, but are you trying to sell? Presentation.

Dave
