This morning, when I check on my email I was surprised tI got over 60 emails, mostly from members of Flickr and Facebook. As I open and check on each one, it was about a painting I post yesterday. This is a painting I just finished yesterday and as usual; I upload to Flickr, Facebook and here.
When I check on my Flickr account I was shock to find out that painting has over 16,000 views over night and better still, it made it on the explore page. (The images on the explore page was chosen by the staff of Flickr and seldom a painting was chosen.)
In the past I had few photos and one painting got on the page.
Well, I guess there is a place for painter among all those photographers.

What's meant for you wont pass you by.. Congratulations Alfred.
This is good news for all of us fine artists who may occasionally feel like we are being drowned out by photographs.

So well deserved, my friend, who continues to create daily and is seldom concerned with what other artists are doing!!

The painting does have a realistic quality to it. I am happy for you. I know how exciting it is to finally have something like this happen. Many artists trying to master what they do or get sales work so hard.

It's a gorgeous painting and a well-deserved choice for Explore's front page. I can't recall ever seeing a painting on the front page, so congratulations! And you just reminded me that I was going to return to Flickr after a very long break.

Thank you everyone for your comments!
it is rather interesting some of the comments I received from Flickr member, many comments as, "nice shoot" or "great/interesting composition", I am not sure if they realized it is a painting not a photo!
So far in less than 24 hours since I upload this painting, I have over 30,000 views on Flickr, 200 likes/comments on Facebook but only 15 on FAA which some are bots. very interesting!

Thanks everyone!
Karen, there are many painters on flickr. there are also many groups for paintings and painters as well. Flickr has huge members from all walks of life. Since I join at 2005 I had many good things came from it and sold many original paintings that way. but like all things on the web you need to keep at it. I post at least one image per day to keep my following's interest.

Congratulations Alfred that is an excellent watercolor painting. Painters (especially watercolor artists) have my utmost respect. The planning, the time, the process, it is a medium that demands so much from the artist. Again, congratulations!

Thank you everyone for your wonderful comments. My front page feature on Flickr was over a day ago but still, the next day I received 3,321 views and with total views of 13,991 on other images I also has one email inquiry for print of the Lotus..However my view count here of the same painting is struck at 24.

How long have you been with Flickr? That certainly is very good in views. Your painting deserves it....you do!

I guess it proves that no matter what medium you use, the skills and quality will come through and be appreciated.
Congrats, Alfred.

Mary, I been with Flickr since 2005, it was suggested to me by a photographer friend because that time I didn't have my own web site and he recommended it was a great way to promote my works as an artist. in the beginning,I only post my paintings there and after about two years i started to post my photos there as well.
one important fact is, many art directors are bypassing the photo agency and search for images from Flickr. I sold the rights to some of my photos that way. although Flickr has a option with Getty Image but I didn't sign with them.

I have a back story on this painting: I started about two months ago but had to put it aside because all of sudden I got three commissioned paintings from two clients. While working on those commissioned works I was itching to get back to it. As soon as I finished the three paintings I went right back to it. it was a such a joy to complete it.

Ronald,
I had seen some flickr members post their Etsy link under their images, I think you can do the same with FAA. If not, they will sent you an email ask you to remove it. I only mention FAA on my flickr profile as prints are available. All my sales from Flickr are my original paintings and the use of my photos so i don't know if any of my print sales came from it.
