Description
The Church of San Gian lies on a hilltop near the Bernina Railway Line in the canon of Celerina, tucked up in an Alpine valley in Switzerland. The church was built in 1478 with remnants of the original church tower (stuck by lightning in 1682 and left unrestored) still a dominant feature of this landmark.
The Bernina Railway Line is a famous route from St. Moritz to Tirano, Italy, and is an engineering marvel through the Alps. For this reason it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
