Description
When I see a mountain in real life, I feel strong feelings like joy, excitement, strength, etc. And I love those feelings. A few days ago, I created 2 mountain paintings, "Mount Strength-Day" and "Mount Strength-Night." They're not about any particular real-life mountain. I only tried to achieve the stimulating quality of real-life mountains.
In each of these paintings, I used one of my favorite shapes, a triangular shape for the mountain. The triangular shape usually represents stability and/ or strength. For unity, I deliberately let one color dominate the whole painting, yellow in "Mount Strength-Day" and blue in "Mount Strength-Night." But too much stability and unity would kill my paintings. The texture of the mountain adds variety to the painting and keeps the painting from dead. Clear sky and the rough mountain contrast each other. I tried warm colors for the peaks in "Mount Strength-Day," but white gives the best appearance. Although warmer-colored peaks suit better, I decided to keep white because this painting's not an actual representation and I loved white better than warm colors in this case. That's the beauty of abstract art. There are no limitations in abstract art. There's only colors and pattern, right?
