The Kids Of Tomorrow - Fighting For Equality

So I made these as tshirt logos for kids and youth to wear to basically say "I don't judge, I hang out with anyone - all I care about is that you're a person, not gay/straight, male/female, rich/poor" - they are the future, the kids of tomorrow, with no barriers of perception - let's help promote it!

they are advertised as prints - but on the side where you can print it in all different options tshirts is listed at the bottom :)

for example: http://shawndall.com/products/the-proud-kids-of-tomorrow-3-shawn-dall-adult-tshirt.html

-----

Basically for kids to say "I accept people, no matter WHO they are.

I believe it is important for kids to not only show support, but to show others they support them, whether they are male, female, trans, gay, lesbian, rich, poor etc. It is my hope kids will either buy these or parents will for their kids and it will become like a "world pride" thing.

Kids grow up in such a confusing age these days - if I had kids I would want them to grow up in a world where they will be judged on their own merits, not by what people perceive them as.

-----

So I did these images a looong time ago - like before my 20s, as just a group of kids with style who loved to dance. They came from all walks of life, and were all different, but all hung out together with no barriers, gender, sexual, class, etc. They are also uncoloured which deters the focus away from race.

I decided to compile an image of all of them together, and then my partner (I am gay) noted that I should put them on t-shirts, as he said he had a friend who did a similar style and made a wack of cash selling them as tshirts - so I thought oh why the heck not - it has kinda that urban anime futuristic style. I loved thinking up out there fashions for them, and who knows, maybe they will inspire someone!

My hope is that people will wear them who wish to erase social barriors and borders - we are all HUMAN BEINGS - if doesnt matter if we are gay, straight, rich, poor, male female, and these are the children - they are the future - a generation raised without prejudice, who all just wanna hang out together, and have fun, and in their case, dance. The kids of tomorrow.

So if you are a fighter for human unity and equality - pick up a tshirt of this, or an artwork of this - and be sure to represent the cause - I don't have to be proud to be gay - I simply have to be proud to be a human, and the ideals of equality to all that represents :) - all else is just a flavour of being human :)

The image also has in the first 2 panels - 2 guys engaging each other - in the middle 2 panels - a guy and a girl engaging each other, and in the last panel 2 girls engaging each other - all without a thought in the world of whether it's right or wrong, just dancing away.. :)

there are 6 in total - so what do you guys think?

Hi, Shawn,

The design is not to my taste, but I wholly support the message! The world is big enough for all of us -- even with all the ego and emo-baggage we insist on carrying around! :-)

Good luck Shawn, :)

I have great hope for the next generations. The kids I know around here are very tolerant and respectful to others. They even have a saying "we don't do that here" when ever any kind of bullying surfaces. But we live in a college town where people tend to be highly educated, diverse and socially aware. As certain presidential candidates have demonstrated, we have a long way to go to root out intolerance.

Shawn,

I have recently tried my hand at Tee design. I understand why all the different forms of your image. Tee design is hit or miss and if you get really into marketing them you shut down what does not sell immediately. I learned that elsewhere while using paid advertising. Most of it is miss not hit.

What you want to do specifically is look at Tee designs on Facebook to see what others are doing. I do not like saying this to you, but your design needs to be PNG/transparent and much sharper in the Tee category. It is a completely different type of design market.

For instance, that design would need to be about 11 or less inches across, but Tee design needs to go vertically. This does not include hoodies which are more problematic if there is a zipper. You need layers with a PNG to be creative and transparent.

As Abbie said Good Luck,

Dave

thanks for the advice!

I think you need to lose the bars at the top and the bottom and go with just the black and white, hand drawn style. Easier to print, looks better on any color shirt, showcases the artwork and not the frame.

Great message!

ok so I took your advice and I sharpened them up - coloured them, got rid of the bars at the top and bottom, and the colours in the bg, and made them a transparent png - imo they look pretty kickass - I might focus on 2 or 3 as well so that they can fill out more of the shirt up and down wise - but yeah, check em out!

That is much better, but you need to go vertical in most future designs.

Very cool, Shawn. I hope it goes viral.

like I said david, I might release a few with either just a couple of them or single versions so that they fill more vertically - that's the benefit of having 6 of them - you can fill more by cameoing them :)

atm there are 2 guys on the left, a guy and girl in the center, and 2 girls on the right - might showcase those 3 demographics and do a lgbt theme that way.

My hope too is that parents will buy them for their kids.

also who do we talk to about making it so we can put something on the BACK of the tshirt as well? Most tshirt websites have that - and some designs I ONLY want on the back of a tshirt.. or hoodie...

Shawn.

Most Tees have splashes of color, or patches of color in off beat but geometric shapes. And not just one shape necessarily. With words running diagonally often.
This requires layers and transparency.

Addition: Most Tees that are very up todate.

some do, but not all - I am happy with how mine look - I don't have to look like everyone else - that's the whole point of diversity after all.

I am only talking about the dynamics of Tee design, not your work looking like anyone else's.

hehe I wasn't too sure so felt I'd throw that in there hehe.. I did get a comment from someone they were too "generic" looking - but I like them :)
