Been posting there and couldn't find a group that was quite fitting what I wanted, however, I was getting about 1200 visitors per day off of it. (Normally I only get about 250) -- So…I started my own Reddit group. If you'd like to stop by and take a look, maybe subscribe and begin posting, we can help each other out and share our work with the world. Thumbs up makes it a hot item and Reddit has massive daily traffic. Stop by and take a look if you are interested. http://www.reddit.com/r/bcoffeyphoto
Have a good night!

thing is, are these real people views? or is this just a mega bot place? i assume you need followers or someone who would care to look at that stream.

I would be really interested to find a good link or hear a good explanation of how to get started with reddit and how to best use it, if anyone has anything to share.
Mike, it's a HUGE group of users, kind of a giant discussion forum like what we have here, but across zillions of topics.

i've heard of the site, but i always thought that was a place for unusual stories and such. and not so much for random vague postings of what basically is spam. people would have to find you and click on it. i just wonder how many are actually real, or if i should waste time playing with that site.

Only difference between that platform and this one is the thread that reaches the top is the one that receives the most votes? But yes, I am also interested in a good tutorial (especially one that points out how to avoid the landmines and pitfalls).

It looks likes a massive link drop fest over at reddit, although there are plenty of people who seem to take it all very seriously.
You'll probably need good titles to get people to click on the links and you'll need to post a variety of links to other material to gain respect, or 'karma'.
You may even want to find or curate subreddits that interest you.
Effective social media usually means being social on their platform so it could be a huge time drain - as is any social media network - if you want to succeed.

Well, I created the subreddit http://www.reddit.com/r/bcoffeyphoto -- where hopefully we can all begin to join, and share with each other, and as we share it might just attract other and get views from the main reedit page…Might be worth a shot, stop by the link and join. We can create a little promotion Reddit thread that may just outreach past our group. :)

You can see who else is on there:

That's kind of cool Travel Pics, thanks for posting. I'm just learning, seems like we create an account, post a link, or image (content), and then go from there. If anyone wants, sign up, join my subreddit above and we can all learn together. If we get enough members, and it's an active enough subreddit, it will rise to the top of the main reddit threads and might make a difference. If you like the idea, and want to, could be a fun little adventure.

TC, now I get a page not found when I click your user link…? Do we have to be friends or something to click on those links?

I suck at reddit, but I do know I see mine & your posts here.

So I am upvoting other FAA users who post a reply to this thread here.
Thanks everyone

Bryant,
Not to bring you down or kill your thread, but Reddit looks like hell. The graphics etc.
I know they have viewers/volume.
I just started updating my Tumblr page. I know off topic...sort of....

David,
Reddit is huge. I've had other people post my work & been contacted for publication all because of reddit. So looks aren't everything. Join us. :p

I haven't got into Tumblr yet, I guess I could look into it…just one more thing… I'd be curious if we got a bunch of people on that Reddit thread, if it would make a difference. If 1000 people came by, signed up, spent a couple of minutes with their day on it, learned how to use over a few brief sessions, if it would bring all of our work up. Think about the physical amount of people…more eyes, more opportunities. David - post your tumblr link, I'll come take a gander. :)

Those of you familiar with Reddit, can I add Google Analytics to it? Or basically my part of it?
I see other artists helping each other on the FAA/hot page. How far can that go? It is like this forum
with a few links back here to the individual sales pages, but what is the reach and how?
Side note I tried BuzzKill/...Feed.....but you have to post births of three headed babies to get any attention.
It is not for anyone serious. Makes E! look good and serious for mature audiences only.
On the news front how does Reddit compare to BuzzKill? More serious? Like NPR lost on some lonely road with
no particular place to go?
See I am a firm believer that I dont trust the internut, do I now trust Reddit?
Most of this post is tongue in cheek. Take with salt.

David, I guess you could link from your profile page and track Google Analytics from that? Worth a shot maybe.

Bryant,
I am more than sure that GA capacities have to be built into the site for it to work. No linking back to GA.
I have no idea if Reddit has GA capacities.

Alexa rankings:
Reddit in the US 10
Tumblr in the US 14
ouch though.....Reddit 16.8 million users last month....best high ever the January numbers
23.8 million, big drop in one month
.....Tumblr 36.8 million for February a constant up slope.... 34.8 milion unique viewers we are talking in January.
People are reading stories on Reddit. That takes more time, so the site ranks higher. Lower bounce rates etc.
That though is now just a guess. Amazon as of now wants me to upgrade to see more info on Alexa.com. The data
is no longer free.

They seem to have rules, spam rules. And if you post too many links to your own site(and not sure what that means) reddit may consider that spam. So someone explain that! It seems to be another socializing and ideas site, more or less. However, if it is OK to post and advertise your art/photos, who knows someone may view and want to buy. That is only a guess.
