What Do You Not Bother With On Faa?

It was posted in another thread that one of our artists doesn't look at the visitor count. It got me thinking...I never look at the graphs.
What do you not bother with, whether it is behind the scenes or a tab or drop down menu?
and WHY not?

I never look at visitors or graphs or chat.... but now that you mention it :(

Same for me, chat and graphs. Doesn't make a difference to me. Very rarely look at recent sales/sold page either.

Selling POD.

blog, activity... there are graphs? This site is huge with a lot of "features" and a lot of places to waste time. But search engines like to see sites with lots of activity so its great for SEO to keep the hamsters on their wheels.

Valerie Reeves

I never look at blogs, chat or graphs either. I also never use press releases or look at events. Never sponsor a page.

Where are these charts and graphs of which you speak?

Jessica Jenney

Look at the Community tab, Michelle.

Heather Applegate

blog, events, press releases, chat... would love to get rid of these tabs on my page, just a whole lot of clutter

Also, since more people join contests than host them it would be smarter to show the contests you're in rather than the ones you're hosting first - or at least the option to change what people see first.

Michelle Calkins

I guess we know one thing I don't use since I never knew they were there...

Marlene Burns

Michelle, you are too funny!

I don't use the pdfs, also called "ordering catalogs."
They haven't been updated in years....no metal, acrylic or decor items listed.
If I am where I can pass these out, I'd rather have the client order directly from me.

Sales notifications, it seems I'm great at avoiding those.. ;)

i also avoid the sales page. i don't want to see what other people are selling, if i'm not selling something.

I try to look at everything. I am still fairly new to faa and I haven't been on here for a few months so it is like I am new and having to re-explore it all.

Jim Hughes

Like a couple of others said above: what graphs?

Marlene Burns

I don't look at "who's online"
It really just means who has kept a tab open for faa until it times you out.

Okay, I found the "graphs" page. I don't get it, doesn't look like any graphs I've ever seen. I guess an easier question for me would be "What do you bother with on FAA? I think I use far fewer of the features than I don't use. Did that sentence make sense?

David Bridburg

I am like a kid in new hotel. I push all the buttons in the elevator and deny it.

I get off the elevator and it gets stuck.

I use most of the features very little.

Okay...I just looked at graphs for the first time....what is it?

Patricia Strand

I never check anything, basically. I look at my activity stream, then come here. Occasionally I'll vote in a contest. Views, graphs, stats -- no interest.

Jim Hughes

Thanks Marlene.

"Graphs"? I see a bunch of other people's photos, with numbers attached. What possible value is there in that information?

Barbara Moignard

Like Patricia, I only look at Activity, Discussions and some Contests. I've never looked at a graph or used any of the other things listed.

I only look at my visitor count, comments, sales, main discussion, and contests. Occasionally I will look at recently sold. Those things are enough of a time suck without adding any more!

Graphs, chat, some forum members raving nutjob posts.

Robert Kernodle

I do NOT know what I do not bother with.

Here is what I DO bother with:

* uploading images
* key words
* descriptions
* adding new galleries
* discussions
* "follow" tab for discussions

That's about it. If there is anything here that I could be bothering with, then I am most assuredly not bothering with it at this time.

I am soooo shallow!

Darice Machel McGuire

I don't bother with everything under the "activity" section and chat.

Maybe we should start a thread titled, Who Do You Not Mess With On FAA?

The answer here is pretty easy. You do not mess with the people who can delete your posts and close your account. Also, most people will not mess with Mike S., because he is a living library that can bring you off any pedestal on which you might wish to perch. Wait, ... I hear a song in the background ["You don't tug on Superman's cape; you don't spit in the wind; you don't mess around with the ol' Lone Ranger, ...."]

Louise Reeves

Only things I DO look at are 1) visitors and if I see something obviously not a bot, then 2) sales.
The rest I don't bother checking-what graphs?

Patricia Strand

Joshua, yep: "some forum members raving nutjob posts" -- I do gravitate toward those, lol.

I try to enjoy the ones who wear crazy pants from afar.

Ok, back on topic, please!

Edward Fielding

9 Years Ago

A little crazy keeps things interesting.

I don't look at groups. There is only so much time one can spend here. I will say I spend more time on FAA than other sites because of features like the forums.

Kip DeVore

9 Years Ago

I usually stay away from Discussions. :)

VIVA Anderson

9 Years Ago

Agree with Kip. Positive ones supporting faa are useful though.

Robert Kernodle

9 Years Ago

Negative balances positive, and so I suggest that people who avoid negativity at al costs are not balanced.

So, to relate this to the topic, ... obviously there are people who do not bother with the slightest bit of negativity in the forums, but I suppose the gravity of this statement might be reduced by any assumption that might lump me with nut job posters.

Once you go crazy, anything else is lazy.

Valerie Reeves

9 Years Ago

I agree, Edward! I am on two other sites, and there is almost no reason to go there unless I am uploading new work. There's no way for artists to interact. This forum really is one of FAA's best features.

I check out my visitor page, the discussions and to see if anyone has commented on my work, so the activity page.

And like Robert said:
uploading images, keywords, titles, etc...

I have never sponsered anything because right now the only website I have is here and you can't sponser from here. I don't do chats. I like to come and go when I have a few minutes here and there. I just noticed graphs. I'll probably look at them once in a blue moon. Now that I know that when I share something to my Facebook page or Pinterest or twitter and someone likes one of those, it doesn't count on here to bump numbers or position of where my art sits, I'm planning to not even post directly from FAA to my Facebook, twitter or Pinterest anymore. I will just post the art with my own watermark directly and use my local printer to print my canvas prints. More flexibility anyways to offer only one size in one medium, etc, do limited editions, etc. I'll still post my " fun" art on here and my originals and limited editions just in case that 1 in a million sale does happen.

I am actually at this moment, aside from that I like the FAA Family, considering highly moving shop or setting up more effort on Google or somewhere else. Shipping is astronomical through FAA and with the conversion rate of the US to Canadian dollar, it's crazy.

I use the page as a mostly social site and a place to learn from others, share with others, etc. I really enjoy that part of it.

Never get into the chat rooms. Just don't want my attention held that way.

Melissa Bittinger

9 Years Ago

I found it earlier but completely did not see Visitors Comments Favorites Votes....I did notice the numbers on the images but was stymied on what the numbers were!

Okay, I've seen it now and can crawl back in my hole.

It's easier to say what I do bother with than what I don't. I check visitors, comments and forum every day, contests occasionally, recently sold never if I can help it (too depressing).

Chat is always empty when I get there - the time difference means I'm always out of sync with everybody else.

I deliberately don't look at those long image threads, simply because they take too long to load.

I was going to answer this by saying: Blog, & Group Forums....but as I read through what others don't bother with, I realize that there is a whole lot of stuff I don't bother with that I didn't even know was here!

It would probably be easier for me to say what I do bother with and why.

I visit the main discussion board, enter contests, submit to groups, and use my mailing list. I only skim through my messages, and delete most without opening. I only open and read messages that are personally sent to me. If it seems like a blanket message to a group I'm in it gets deleted without even being opened.

Jo Gonzalez

So far all I do is watch my visitors list to see how many have come to see my work. But now I think I will go on to the others just to see what they're all about. I want to try any thing look at any thing that can give me some ideas on what next to do with my sales. LOL right now standing on my head if that would help. Wait, what? Naaaa they would turn tail and run so that's out for me...:)

Fran Riley

I only look at posts by people that present worth while topics =)

Visitors/Comments - and sometimes a blog that catches my eye....that's all I have time for.

Many threads in this discussion section. On the ones I do read, i "don't bother" reading responses from the people who feel the need to reply/opinionate in every thread. Just scroll right on by. same with the self designated experts on any topic. I'm really only interested in changes to the site/products that will effect my site and/or sales.

The few times I went into the chat room it was empty, so apparently NOBODY bothers with it.

Also groups. Even my own, I just go in daily and approve images as needed and delete those from (obviously illiterate) people who can't read rules. I'm getting so frustrated with it, I'm considering closing at least one of my 2 groups and leaving them all behind. Mod emails drive me absolutely batty, I don't bother reading those either.

I never knew there were graphs, but you made me go look. Totally useless for me.

I enjoy reading comments on my stuff, they give me warm Fuzzies. I also like to see the "recently sold" page, I like to see what's selling, what size,and where the buyers are from.
