Thanks!

Thanks to everyone that has helped in sharing my GoFundMe link http://www.gofundme.com/kizcnk

Becoming disabled this year has been hard in more ways than one. Being denied disability assistance has been a nightmare. Next comes the long year or more wait just to get a hearing date. Not looking forward to any of that. I like watching Matlock and Perry Mason but real court, not so much.

You're welcome, Andee. I like Perry Mason for the theme music. The actress who played his secretary Della, Barb Hale, started out as an artist. Who knew? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barbara_Hale

I certainly hope you catch a decent break & good things start coming your way.
This whole situation has been so grossly unfair.

Very upsetting to hear this.

Thanks for the kind words everyone. Everyone around here has been so kind through all of this. Anyone in my place knows how bad it feels to feel helpless and then to get slammed by the system that was designed to help people in my condition is scary to say the least.. It will be at least one year before I get a disability hearing...the system is broken...but that is all I will say about that so not to make it political. I meet with a disability attorney first part of February.

Thanks Janice. I need a hotel designer to find me and buy a bunch of my work....but then we all do.

Jeff there is no time limit. on what I get to keep. I keep whatever I get in donations. (If that is what you mean)

I will post this here if anyone uses the Friends feature of FB for more than just family and close friends.

The GoFundMe program will post me on their main search page if I have a fair amount of FB friends...not sure why. So anyone that is willing to be FB friends with me here is the link to my FB page. If you use it for family and close friends only no worries I totally understand. I have not ever used it myself until now.

I know you have already thought of this but I am going to mention it anyway, have you talked to the guys from Binder and Binder? I know a couple of people who needed disability and it didn't take them a year to get a hearing, and just for the record everyone gets turned down the first time.
Binder and Binder can take care of it over the phone, the reason I mention them is I have herd the best of them from a couple of my friends who had to use them.

Sorry Jeff. Someone told me 6 months but others say it could be sooner. I am not in foreclosure yet. I am just almost out of money. Without help I will lose it before I even get a hearing if it is less than 6 months. I had high hopes of being accepted for disability and was dashed when I got my denial letter Dec 23rd they missed getting records from 2 of my doctors that would have helped. But Missouri has no review policy so I just have to get a lawyer and wait for a year at least.

Terry I have not heard of them. Might depend in the state one is in. I was told a year in my state before a hearing. The law firm I talked to said so many are homeless now that it is hard ot get one any sooner and that I would have to be in foreclosure before I could get one any sooner...Which to me is like lose your home then we help you get a hearing sooner. It is crazy!

Andee, I am sorry to hear you are having such a rough time. I'm going to throw this out in case it's an option for you.

If you have a fair amount of equity in your home and a good credit rating look into getting a HELOC, preferably through a credit union. There is a major advantage to having a HELOC rather than a mortgage in that the lender will pay off your mortgage and instead of making a mortgage payment that includes principal plus interest, you can pay interest only on the HELOC. I don't know if the terms vary from state to state, but the HELOC interest rate is typically much lower than mortgage interest rates. This is TMI but getting a HELOC saved my home when I was between jobs. In my case, my interest is tied to the prime rate and I can pay as much or as little as I please on the principal, as long as the interest is paid each month and right now the interest is about $80.00 a month. I kick whatever I can toward the principal and that varies depending on other expenses. It saved my home when I didn't have a steady income flow and it's a godsend now.

I wish you all the best. Just hang in there and keep fighting for your rights!

Thanks Kathleen. But my house has no equity. I refinanced right before one of those more recent stock market crashes and the next year it was worth 10,000 less than I owed on it. I do not qualify for HUD refy since I refinanced after 2009. I have been finding some really frustrating things about my state since all of this has been going on. Not my favorite place to live because of that but been here all my life.

Andee, can your family help you in any way (if that's okay to ask)?

Thanks Barbara, I am doing my best!

JL sad to say they can not. My parents are elderly and in poor health. I am using their old van to get around in so that is a help.

I want to say a BIG THANK YOU to those who have been donating to my GoFundMe page. This has be so hard for me and seems to be getting harder right now. I am beginning to wonder when things will start to look up again for the long term. I can not wait until that day!

I appreciate the kindness of those who have given donations and those that continue to post my link on social medial. It means so much!!!

This had been very humbling.

Thanks again!

Thank you Kip and Vivian!

Things are scary right now and not sure what will happen next month. My nice print sales here have stopped. No 'print' sales in over the last 35 days. Only one cell phone cover. Still trying to find places that will help with household bill expenses to stay in my home but so far no government program will help you unless you have kids or are blind.

I wish there was a switch to turn my nice print sales back on that would help so much. :(

Thank you Dorothy! I had hoped part of this would be taken care of by now. Very upsetting to be in this place with disability waiting on an appeal and an injury suit delayed once again. And not being able to take care of my needs is so depressing. I had worked since graduating high school. (long time ago!) ! I fall through the cracks for getting help for saving my home. I keep getting told no for help. I did get food stamps but if I lose my home I will not be able to get those with no physical address. My family is strapped and can not help me.

A very close friend was recently diagnosed with MS. She got permanent disability within weeks. I'll ask her how she managed to fast track the system. Conversely, it took years of fighting to get it for my sister. My take is that those with the resources to fight get approved quickly and those who don't are told to suck eggs.
