"Whether it is the beautiful that brings to our hearts the love of truth and justice, or whether it is truth that teaches us how to find the beautiful in nature and how to love it, in eather case art does a noble work. It drags out the soul from its everyday shell, and brings it under the spell of its own mysterious and wonderful power, so that a memory of this experience stays with the people, sustains them in their daily labors, and refines their minds."

Angel,

I believe on Oscar Wilde. All art is actually useless.
Useless things are important to make our life interisting.

The useful things are repetitive and boring. The funcional stuff are ugly. Look at bauhaus buildings and chears. They are ugly, when old they are abandoned and nobody want them.

Now, look at over worked buildings, temples and churchs. They are useless. They are just decoration, they are made just to be apretiated not to be used. The same with old funiture and paintings, too many useless details and extra work. But people want them because useless things are important.
