Description
Spring on the Apache Trail, or in the desert for that matter, has its own unique beauty. This photo was taken in early spring, just as the Superstition Mountains were sporting fresh color. You can see the narrow single lane road to the right of this photo.
The Apache Trail in Arizona was a stagecoach trail that ran through the Superstition Mountains. It was named the Apache Trail after the Apache Indians who originally used this trail to move through the Superstition Mountains. The Trail winds steeply through 40 miles of extremely rugged desert mountains, past deep reservoir lakes like Canyon Lake and Apache Lake. The narrow, winding road is unpaved from just east of the town of Tortilla Flat to Roosevelt Dam; there are steep cliff drops and little in the way of safety barriers. It isnt for the faint of heart! I suggest that you stop for a breather and refreshments at the Superstition Saloon, because from there on if it werent for the ever changing vista, you would wish you were safely on black top once again!
The Superstition Mountains called "The Superstitions", are a range of mountains in Arizona located to the east of the Phoenix area. They are anchored by Superstition Mountain, a large mountain that is a popular recreation destination for residents of the Phoenix, Arizona area. With "The Lost Dutchman" State Park, named after a long lost Mine in the Superstitions.
The mountain range is in the federally designated Superstition Wilderness Area, and includes a variety of natural features in addition to its namesake mountain. Weaver's Needle, a prominent landmark and rock climbing destination set behind and to the east of Superstition Mountain, is a tall erosioned peak that plays a significant role in the legend of the Lost Dutchman's Gold Mine. Peralta Canyon, on the northeast side of Superstition Mountain, contains a popular trail that leads up to Freemont Saddle, which provides a very picturesque view of Weaver's Needle. Miner's Needle is another prominent formation in the wilderness and a popular hiking destination.
The altitude in the more remote, eastern portion of the wilderness is higher than the western portion, which lowers temperatures slightly. Numerous hiking trails cross the mountains from multiple access points, including the Peralta Trailhead, the most popular. The Lost Dutchman State Park, located on the west side of Superstition Mountain, includes several short walking trails.

Digital painting is an emerging art form in which traditional painting techniques such as watercolor, oils, impasto, etc. are applied using digital tools by means of a computer and software, a graphics program offering a virtual canvas and
painting box with a large amount of brushes, colors and other supplies. The box contains many instruments that do not exist outside the computer, which give a digital artwork a different look and feel from an artwork that is made the traditional way.
