Description
Cruising Down the River on a Sunday Afternoon, Painting of the Colorado River, near sunset. Years ago took a rafting trip down the Colorado River, the water was smooth and deep then. Only in the areas of rapids is it rough, but its not quite as smooth as my painting.
Native Americans have inhabited the Colorado River basin for at least 8,000 years. Between 2,000 and 1,000 years ago, the river and its tributaries served large, agricultural civilizations, possibly some sophisticated indigenous tribes in North America. They are believed to have collapsed due to a combination of drought or poor land use practices. Native people who inhabit the river basin are descended from groups in the region about 1,000 years ago. Europeans first entered the Colorado River area in the 16th century,. Spanish explorers began mapping and claiming the area, that later became part of Mexico in 1821. Early contact was generally limited to the fur trade in the headwaters and trade along the lower river.
There are many viewpoints from the South Rim of the Grand Canyon on the Arizona side or south rim this one from Yaki Point is one of my favorites.... Some of our favorites viewpoints are reached from the South entrance, others on the west side in the Navajo Reservation. Our favorite view points are, from anywhere along Hermit Road to Hermit Rest, like pima, mariopa, hopi, or views from various areas and Yaki which can only be accessed by bus. But, many never see some of our favorite places, the buses running the routes in the Grand Canyon only go as far as Yaki Point. We like a lot of the viewpoints past there, especially Grandview, Moran, Lapin and Navajo or even many unnamed view points.

We really appreciate you stopping by to view our work. #Paintings or #Photographs of #beautiful things, especially those in #nature can help you feel better. Just stop and take a few moments to see all the details. Even click on the image to see the finest detail, like brush strokes, etc.. It could even surprise you, just how relaxed you can feel after viewing 100 or more images (just try it today) when you take the time for a break.... View or scan them carefully noticing details you would not have otherwise seen, and take the time to see many images in that manner. Just clicking Next at the top of the page, again, and again as you breathe slowly.... Breathing slowly as you watch the next page loading, can even be a form of meditation or relaxation, as you think of the scene or landscaps, just as if you are actually in that environment. And when you take ten minutes or so to observe and pay attention to how you are feeling.... We know you will enjoy our work, even more.... You can just return whenever you feel like you can use a break... to enjoy them, again and again...
