Description
This is my painting of Exmoor, which is in the South West of England, located in W.Somerset and N. Devon. The landscape is varied,from steep coastal woodland to open moor, but I chose this spot to paint, as it was so peaceful and set me thinking of those who have had to cross this, sometimes precarious, terrain, over the centuries. The heath is partially covered in heather and here, one ancient path (now a surfaced road) crosses a tiny stream, meandering its way across the moor. Exmoor is home for many rare breeds of insects, birds and animals, including the Exmoor Ponies, which roam wild and may be the closest breed related to wild horses remaining in Europe. Exmoor also is Lorna Doone country. I do hope that you may visit this unique place one day.
