This print is beautiful. It's a commonly depicted subject, but it is very special. The composition, tonal quality, and movement are exceptional and evocative. The piece is true to it's title... breathtaking!

I have wanted this for my pro life bulletin board at my Catholic Church and I wasn’t disappointed. It is beautiful and it has so much meaning put in a picture. A picture speaks better then words and this picture says it all. Thanks
Artist's Description
Portrait of dramatist and opera librettist Edouard Blau (1836-1906) by French impressionist Jean-Frederic Bazille (1841-1870), painted in 1866. An early leading light of the French impressionist movement, Blau's career was tragically cut short when he was killed in action leading an assault on a German position during the Franco-Prussian War. Had he lived, there is little doubt that he would have joined his close friends Monet, Sisley and Manet as a key figure in the evolution of the impressionist movement.
