Description
These pokeberry flowers and pokeberries volunteered in my garden. They are toxic and must be boiled three times before they can be made into poke salad (as in Poke Salad Annie). I wouldn't try this myself -- and don't recommend that anyone else do it either. They can also be made into ink and dye, but again, they must be handled carefully and with gloves, because they are poisonous. The bushes grow well over six feet high.
