Description
This is an image of an original painting from my Still Life series. I was inspired to paint these fruits because of their rich orange color and lovely shapes. The egg shapes of the persimmons and the mandarins are an inversion of each other. I selected the bowl and tea cloth that I thought showed them off to the best advantage, harmonizing with their colors and nicely bringing focus to the center of the composition by repeating the round containment of the fruits themselves. In my still life paintings, I am interested in not only the realistic depiction of the subject, but also the abstract patterns that make an artwork interesting. In this case, I wanted to make a design with round and angular shapes.
