Description
This is an image of my painting 'Squashes and Indian Corn' from my Still Life series. It can be categorized further as distinctively an 'American Still Life', as squashes and corn are two of the "three sisters" (squashes, corn and beans) according to SW Native Americans. The colorful 'rainbow' corn, squashes, gourds and pumpkins of autumn (fall) provide much interesting subject matter for artists. I was fascinated with the orange, green and cream colored 'turban' squash I found locally. When I confided to the sales person that I intended to paint it, she looked very puzzled and asked "what color would you paint it?" I had to explain that I meant to paint a picture of it, as it's natural colors already looked very well-painted. This painting is in watercolour on 300 lb Arches paper.
Please note: the FAA watermark does not appear on the purchased print.
