Thank you so much for your kind comments Phong ....it took a long time to finish this flower so the composition had to incorporate the season s of the plant as I had difficulty catching the buds this is pure translucent color and this is my true quest..... translucency as much as possible Thanks again love your work ! A very kind FAA member told me about a great on site water colour handbook called "Handbook " it is great reading :) it is free on your computer just type it in Google :)

Hi Peter Thank you for such a wonderful compliment This was the last piece of pure white Fabriano 100% pure linen they stopped making it it was so beautiful to paint on ,and W/N permanent rose and Gamboge ..Alizarin in the flower leaving the white of the paper for the flower and back painting around the petals with my mix of Dawn Grey ( mix of Perm rose/raw sienna/cobalt blue) makes the most transparent greys

Thank you Xueling ,this one took me 8 years to complete as the bud formed at Christmas time here in Australia and I kept on missing the live bud in a neighbours garden I finally drew and painted it Phew !!!! but the open flower I was very happy with this is from a series that represented the four cycles......... bud, flower ( fruit) death.....
