Description
A vibrant scene depicts two Uros girls wearing traditional clothing rowing a small boat next to one of the Uros Floating Islands in Lake Titicaca near Puno, Peru. The islands belong to the indigenous Uros or Uru people and are one of Peru's best known tourist attractions. The islands and the houses are made from totora reeds (Schoenoplectus californicus subsp. tatora) which grow in huge numbers in the shallower parts of the lake. The reeds turn a beautiful golden yellow colour when they dry out, the structure on the right is a small viewing tower that has been built for tourists.
