Description
A lone figure leaves the castle of Chenonceau and walks toward the beautiful and spacious gardens that extend along the north bank of the Cher River, giving scale to the late afternoon scene. The Chateau de Chenonceau, a French Renaissance castle, is in the Indre-et-loire department in France. Its extensive formal gardens were added by Diane de Poitiers in the mid 16th century. This image has a fine grain on it that was added in post-processing; please view sky especially with full resolution preview.

Congrats on your sale, Nikolyn! I would love to go there!
Nikolyn McDonald replied:
Thank you, Joy. All of the chateaux in the Loire Valley are interesting and great to visit, but I must admit Chenonceau is one of my favorites. It's beautiful both inside and out.

The lone figure definitely adds some drama and impact to this scene! Very well done Nikolyn and congratulations on another sale!

A wonderful composition and your choice of b&w really makes this a great photo Nikolyn.
Nikolyn McDonald replied:
Thank you, Wayne. It was a pretty gray day and that combined with the largely neutral tones of the tower, paved area and walk pretty much dictated the monochrome, I thought. Glad to know you find it effective.
