Description
The bluffs on the east side of the North Platte River curve their colorful way from the vast sagebrush valley in the distance. The river wends among the hay meadows of a ranch, and the cottonwoods that thrive along its banks and the irrigation ditches above provide perfect nesting sites for bald eagles. The fishing is so good that the bald eagles here commonly raise two or even three young every year. I love to sit on a high knoll above the flowing waters, listening to the snipe winnowing and the chilly breeze rustling the tiny leaves that have just burst their buds.
