My Asst waits behind me to pass more ammo if needed. (We both carried 13-20 round magazines .30cal ammo)

The Platoon Radioman calls for artillery fire from the 555th Battalion 105mm (Triple Nickle)
...
The 5th Infantry Regiment nicknamed the '"Bobcats"' is the third-oldest infantry regiment of the United States Army, tracing its origins to 1808... ... ... It has participated in most of the wars the United States has fought during its history...
...
More Medals of Honor have been awarded to the 5th Infantry Regiment, than any other Regiment in the US Army. The only Regiment from the Korean War authorized a Monument in Arlington Cemetery.
.....
In the resulting Battle of Pusan Perimeter (August-September 1950), the U...S... Army withstood North Korean Peoples Army (KPA) attacks meant to capture the city at the Naktong Bulge, P'ohang-dong, and Taegu... The United States Air Force (USAF) interrupted KPA logistics with 40 daily ground support sorties that destroyed 32 bridges, halting most daytime road and rail traffic...
.....
KPA forces were forced to hide in tunnels by day and move only at night... To deny materiel to the KPA, the USAF destroyed logistics depots, petroleum refineries, and harbors, while the U...S... Navy air forces attacked transport hubs... Consequently, the over-extended KPA could not be supplied throughout the south...
.....
Meanwhile, U...S... garrisons in Japan continually dispatched soldiers and materiel to reinforce defenders in the Pusan Perimeter... Tank battalions deployed to Korea directly from the United States mainland from the port of San Francisco to the port of Pusan, the largest Korean port... By late August, the Pusan Perimeter had some 500 medium tanks battle-ready... In early September 1950, ROK Army and UN Command forces outnumbered the KPA 180,000 to 100,000 soldiers...
.....
The UN forces, once prepared, counterattacked and broke out of the Pusan Perimeter.. with the 1st Marine Brigade and 5th Regimental Combat leading the assault for the 1st Cavalry Division.. Each Unit on one side of the road leading to Taegu.
....
In the resulting Battle for Subuk and Subuksan Mountain, the 5th Regimental Combat team outnumbered more than three to one, destroyed a crack Division and took Subuksan. Because the 5th was so successful, Army Command and General MacArthur, decided to pull the 1st Marines Brigade out of the offensive and leave the 5th as Point Unit.
....
They then prepared the 1st Marine Brigade for the highly successful landing at Inchon, as the 5th R.C.T. closed the trap from the south of Seoul... ..
