Shopping Cart Widgets Don't Work With My Website

I've been back and forth for over a month with both my website host and FAA and nothing works. We copied and pasted the stand alone as well as a few others to try them and we keep getting the error that there is nothing to link back to. You can see what I'm talking about here: http://www.jlovephotography.com/#!/Shop

I'm beyond frustrated. I've been rebuilding my old website and would like to get it finished. I'm not technical whatsoever and don't know where to go to get an answer. Any clues out there? I would so appreciate some help. Thank you, thank you!!!

Jill - the shopping cart iFrame is not properly inserted into that page. There's just a reference to the widget, without having the entire code installed. Not sure if you or someone else is building the site for you, but pasting in the correct embed code should fix your problem.

I just looked at your source code. Two problems. You're putting the code in the HEAD section and you're missing the iframe call in the widget code.

Open your page in an HTML editor. Go to line 5087 and delete that line. that line is a partial set of code for the FAA widget, and it's in the wrong place.

Anywhere after the beginning of the BODY section of your page code (which begins on line 5091 for you) you should paste the entire block of text provided to you by FAA for your respective widget. This includes a line with a "script" call and a line with an "iframe" call.

Because this message parses HTML for display, I can't show you here, but if you go to your behind the scenes and choose any of the blocks of widget code, you'll see what I mean. Just paste that code in it's entirety into the BODY section of your page.

I see a couple of extra characters at the begining of the url also, a slash and a single quote which is making it look for a directory on the local host.

Does the host support php? For the Widget #1 you can just drop the iframe code in without the php script.

This is what I copied from the FAA site and put into the section on my template that says "Enter widget code here" on my shopping page:

As much as I appreciate what you are both saying, I don't have a clue what Cynthia means. I think you're both referring to what you see on the page itself which is not the same as what is on the actual back end of the site.

Cynthia, since this is the actual text I copied and pasted from FAA's site and what is in the box for widget code on my website, is there something missing as far as you can tell? I'm sorry, I sound and feel stupid but I'm desperate to get this fixed if I can.

It won't show the code!!! I don't know how to get it in here so you can see it. Any suggestions?

Jill - we know what the code looks like. Cynthia looked at your page in more detail than I did (for some reason there's over 11,000 lines of code). Who is responsible for editing your site? Can they follow Cynthia's suggestion?

I think after trying the standalone cart, I then tried another shopping widget to see if that worked. None worked. But I see it didn't post the code but did indeed post the actual link! I've gone back in, copied the stand alone shopping cart and pasted it into the box where I'm supposed to put the code. Same thing. Nada. I don't know if my host supports php. I have submitted a ticket to find out.

Any other suggestions??? Thank you.

Try dropping just the iframe portion of the Widget #1 code into the box you're referring to. I wonder if your platform is forcing the script tto HEAD section instead of just accepting custom code on the page.

What platform is this running on, btw?

They are telling me the site is written in php. I don't know what that means, but that's what they're saying. I've forwarded on your suggestions as well as Cynthia's. I will let you know what he says. They've put it back on FAA for over a month now. :( I'm hopeful with your insight into this they might get it fixed.

Ok, If you forwarded your web person what we said, then it should work.

Also give him your FAA password so that he can log in and read the instructions on how to get the widget to show up. It's really simple, but I do understand it's all Greek if you've never worked with website coding.

let him log in and look at the instructions, then once he's figured it out, just change your password. I don't work with PHP sites, so I am just assuming it can be done, hopefully it can!

The web guy is asking for the 'code that is needed' and 'how to install it'. I am going to copy and paste the code into the note to him. Is there anything else I should put for instructions that I haven't given him? I copied and pasted all of your notes to me. I'm going to copy and paste the code here to make sure it works.

The web guy is asking "So do they want me to remove the javascript in the section?" Oh my, is the answer yes???

I guess the widget works fine here doesn't it?! So it wasn't FAA even though BluDomain has been telling me that for a month. I think we are close. Thanks for your ongoing support here.

Widget #1 works fine as just the iframe without the script portion. The little widgets need the script for the controls to work. At least that's what I've observed. I have the iframe without script on my site.

But if he has code level access, any of widgets should work by including the entire code form FAA. All he has to do is drop the code in the appropriate place on the SHOP page.

He doesn't have to remove anything. Send him the block of code, with this instruction:

Just paste the whole block of code in the BODY section of the page, where you want it to appear. Don't alter the code, just paste it in as block outside of any other script tags.

You were reading his mind, Cynthia. I gave him my password and stuff, and this is what he said: "I'm not finding the instructions on your page. Please paste the instructions in this ticket."

So I'm going to copy and paste your instructions from above and see if that works!!! Cynthia, you aren't just beautiful, you're really smart too! :) Thank you.

I'm feeling hopeful!!!
