No Sales?

They say a wise man's question contains half the answer - would you agree?

I do think often when we ask a question, deep inside we know the answer or most of it anyway, but often do not want to hear it. So we ask hoping that others will tell us otherwise. Or sometimes it's for confirmation of what you already know. So yes.

Sharon, quit making art, you are a philosopher!!!

Why? So where is half the answer? I know, you said a wise man.

Sharon Cummings

I know too many philosophers...No thanks! I will keep making ART! :)

Many people who ask questions, aren't really looking for an answer. It's just their way of trying to get attention, to be heard, to be noticed, to relieve themselves of a stressful concern.

Who are "they"? If I don't know who "they" are it makes it difficult to either agree or disagree. "They" might be the enemy, in which case I'll disagree with everything "they" say just for the sake of it.

Or are "they" politicians? Hard to agree to any of "their" proposals.

Are "they" beautiful women? I might agree with everything they say just because.

"They" is a man in this case,

But wait, this is a visual site, so the picture on top makes it quite clear, it is Einstein asking!

And wait more... this is not about who says it, it is about the question itself, namely:

NO SALES?

I edited the headline a bit - so most of us can feel welcome here, watching the tide to come in...

Mike Savad

changing the headline to a random thread where everyone already answered... ?

The writing is on the wall....or is it?

There is no such thing as a bad question...only an unanswered one.

Cheers, Barbara

"Who are "they"? If I don't know who "they" are it makes it difficult to either agree or disagree. "

"Ad Hominem" means "against the man" or "against the person." An Ad Hominem is a general category of fallacies in which a claim or argument is rejected on the basis of some irrelevant fact about the author of or the person presenting the claim or argument.

The words should stand on their own. Who said them will not make them any more true, false or accurate or inaccurate.

One should evaluate what is said, not who said it.

Example:

Van Gogh is the best artist of all time.
Renoir was the best artist of all time.
Floyd Snyder was the best artist of all time.

If the president of MoMA said Floyd Snyder was the best artist of all time, would that, in you mind make it so given the other choices?

I think so but hey....

The wise person will make up his own mind.

The title of the post now does not make some of the following answers make sense, where they did before you changed it but, no, not necesarily

Edward Fielding

Time to shut this down me thinks.

Mike Savad

me thinks the same, this will only generate views for the thread.

??? The message is the same as before. The opening question is unchanged. The anwers make sense to the opening question. However, the titel needed editing, since many of you missed the opening image.

To sum it up: "No sales?" is the question - followed by: "They say a wise man's question contains half the answer - would you agree?"

But don't bother, Sharon made my day already, writing: "I do think often when we ask a question, deep inside we know the answer or most of it anyway, but often do not want to hear it. So we ask hoping that others will tell us otherwise. Or sometimes it's for confirmation of what you already know. So yes."

So close it. No one likes answering questions that change.

once the title changes it becomes a lead on. fake title real question. your better leaving it the old title and stay honest.

Read again Edward. My English is not that bad, I hope.

Start over with a new thread so people don't feel hoodwinked. Just a thought.

The original was more general. Now it is specifically about sales.

Floyd Snyder

I'm with you Lutz... It makes perfect sense and it is a great question.

I guess the irony is being missed by some.

If you get the irony, you don't need to have it spelled out for you. That would ruin the entire concept.

Either that or I am the only one seeing it and what I am seeing is not what the OP intended.

But even that would make it a great thread, imho.

Lutz Baar

Exactly Edward, that was the intention all the time. That is what the OP pic says.

Now, the interesting part is wether or not we already know half the answer. Or are we asking for links to marketing advices?

Lutz Baar

Floyd, I am releaved by your comment! A toast to irony and humor once in a while in this business of keeping the discussion section alive!

Floyd Snyder

Pretty sure we already know all of the answer, imho.

Or do we just think we do?

If a tree falls in the woods...

If a sale takes place...

lol

"I do think often when we ask a question, deep inside we know the answer or most of it anyway, but often do not want to hear it. So we ask hoping that others will tell us otherwise. Or sometimes it's for confirmation of what you already know. So yes.'

I love this too...

I would only add, or is it misery seeking company?

Lisa Kaiser

Wow, that was entertaining.

Back in my former career life, at meetings I would sometimes ask questions to which I already knew the answer--but that was to find out how well the other person knew the subject matter, or whether they were dealing with me straightforwardly.

Lisa Kaiser

Well, did they know it, or were they bullsh%^ters, William?
