Howdy, I Would Love To Hear Your Input Cowboy

Hi everyone, I have been in a cow/bull thing lately adding to the 30 paintings I am hanging for a new show in 2 weeks. I go to the photographer next week with all my new images and when I get them back I want to make some cards that are Southern,Texan,Western themed with the lingo for holidays and other things people would send a card for. Would love to see what you might come up with that I can use since I am not educated in that lingo. Would love to see what might come up :) here is one I am working on currently called "Real Cowboys"

Great link Mike, I really like Cow lick and cow hide and a few others good input to add to my series ,thanks :)

well guess what Mike, just because you showed me this link my family voted , I only will have enough time to finish the 2 cow ones I am working on and another called The butterfly keeper 2 before my deadline BUT we/they decided I should start a new one tomorrow since your link called Cow Lick instead of finishing butterfly keeper so again thanks for your input ,I have a great idea for cow lick similar to my french kissing painting :)

lol, see! even when you are burnt out you give good input. I already thought of cowpie before and thought it should be a cow working in a pie making thing but it's kinda bland the thought so I haven't done it. BUT cow lick oooooh so many kinky things lol

when i'm working on graphics my wordsmith turns off, but i had to stop as i can't really grip the pen right now.

for the cow pie, i see a cow handing over a pie that looks like a curly poop in a pan. it could even be a pie stand of some kind. and of course holy cow can have a saintly thing going on.

Get The Wrong Pig By The Tail - To make a mistake in selecting a person for any purpose. "I got the wrong pig by the tail in debating with that particular man.”

Greenhorn - An easterner innocent of cowboy ways. Also referred to as greeners, green peas, and tenderfoots.

Dude - Commonly, the term applied to an Easterner, or anyone in up-scale town clothes, rather than plain range-riding or work clothes. However, the term began as an insult, as cowboys first used the word to mean a pimple or boil on someone's backside, caused by riding in the saddle all day when one wasn't used to it. Hence, the cowboys called those "wanna-be" wrangers "dudes."

More can be found on this great cowboy slang site :http://www.legendsofamerica.com/we-slang.html

Cheers, Barbara

Leah you have to do "cow hide"! I see one peeking out from behind a tree while the other one is looking the other way.

I like cow hide also Cynthia, good thought on the idea for it :) , Becky good titles thanks for your in put. It has been great hearing everyone's input on future cow paintings but I was hoping to get ideas for greeting cards in country/western lingo like Howdy ,hope you have a sunny Birthday, I know that's lame because I just don't know the lingo, but I thought others might

Big Hat Some Cattle

Edward ,I am not understanding what you mean by big hat some cattle can you elaborate?

MM Anderson

I think Edward is referring to the saying "All hat and no cattle" which basically means a person is all form and no substance. Anyway, you might want to work the words "rootin' tootin'" into there somewhere. That seems like a Wild West, cowboy thing to me. Your work looks great so far and good luck with the showing!

Thanks MM and thanks for explaining that, I like rootin tootin for cards thanks :)

You could do a female cow character named Cow Patty, maybe dressed up in cowgirl gear (like Dale Evans).

Belt buckles.

Every cowboy in the world will be asking where the belt buckles are. The bigger the better.

Cattle Rustling, or use the name of a breed of cattle. Highland or Camargue could be in costume.

i often use the scrabble finders for odd puns. there can be some funny words in there. i think the eye could use a touch of sparkle, a bit of glimmer.

---Mike Savad
http://www.MikeSavad.com

interesting where you got the puns I appreciate you got them for me, maybe try the bull one also :) , it has a highlight in their eyes maybe I will enhance it when I do final touch ups in a few days ,thanks again for the ideas

Mike Savad

most puns i can do on my own, but there are times when i'm trying to fit in a strange one, and my mind just goes blank. often just going to google will bring to to odd places. for that one i looked up a bull couple and it took me there. sometimes synonyms and the other word complexors help out.

i wonder if you can work in kosher in that, most kosher meat platters always has tongue on it. long thin strips of meat. i never tried it, the fact its still tongue shaped grossed me out.

---Mike Savad
http://www.MikeSavad.com

That won't happen ,I hate cow tongue and my Grandma was from France and I was practically raised by her and I would ask her what's for dinner and she would tell me to look on the stove and low and behold a Giant cow tongue in the pan was there ugh. I like when she made rabbit though, I thought you would give me some link to bull stuff , I can't work on it now anyway since I have a dead line and can't do a new painting till after Dec 1st. and I want to switch to surrealism then which is going to be a difficult transition this time since I have been doing so much animal humor but have to since I haven't done any for a long time

Mike Savad

keeping on the cow theme, you can have cow boys, and the human horses.

---Mike Savad
http://www.MikeSavad.com

It took me a minute to get what you are saying. very funny. I actually would love to stay on the cow theme in December there are sooo many ideas to play with. But I haven't done any surrealism in many many months . To tell you the truth I think the cow theme has a lot of potential for sales but I thought that with many things I have done this past year and no movement and very disappointed so deep in me I think fuck it I'll just do whatever.

it could be any anthropomorphic animals showing off their human animal. i've been to a number of farm shows, where the kid is showing off his goat, the beef barn has the cows, they all look the same to me. prizes for ducks and other birds. so if you reversed that and placed the human in that situation it might be neat. it would have to be pushed at the farming community though, city slickers won't get it. unless you can make some city based animals walking around.
