Decor Expo Atlanta 2015 Gala Event

Here is the link to the next Decor Expo, this one in Atlanta, September 9, 10 and 11.
http://decorexpoatlanta.com/

They bill this trade show towards the professional framer, but it is sooooo much more!

I see a hundred questions come up in the threads here that can all be answered in one day by visiting the exhibitor’s booths and never have to go to any of the sessions. And the exhibitor’s booths are free!

There will be publishers, framers, artist looking for galleries, galleries looking for artists, marketing gurus, people that do canvas, printer companies with the latest printing technology, computer people and you name it. If you are looking for a whole sale source for anything, it will probably be there. If you are looking for a retail source for anything, they will probably be there.

Looking for a commercial, to the trade, fulfillment company? The will be there.

There is no doubt in my mind that any amount of money you spend to attend this trade show, you will get back a hundred fold it you continue to sell art.

One of the last times I went to one of these shows was in Vegas and I bet the people that I believe are now doing the framing for FAA. They were a startup at that time and they were really great people. I had several online galleries at the time and they want my business really, really bad. The probably would not even talk to me today! lol Just kidding, I am sure they are still great people.

People in FAA have all kinds of question and usually you will get pretty good answers. But here is a great opportunity to ask some of those same questions and new ones to the true expects in the trade. Not just the picture frame trade, the art trade.

People say oh, I cannot afford to take three days and travel to Atlanta. Then don’t do three days. Just stay long enough to attend the Exhibitor’s booth. Keep in mind the close down early on last day. I would plan on being there early, as soon as they open on the first full day and plan on spending the entire day. Actually I would make it a one night stay over and get there early enough the first day to do a quick run through and then plan next day and spend some time with the people I wanted to talk to.

I went to the Décor Expo’s for years and years. They used to have them in Los Angeles and Vegas as well as Dallas, Chicago, New York and Atlanta. Not sure how many they do now. I cannot tell you the wealth of information and the number of valuable contacts I met. I am still doing business with some of those contacts.

This is a learning opportunity that cannot be equaled.

Is this trade show open to the public or only the industry?

Floyd,

Is there a show like this in the NYC area anytime soon?

I just can not travel to GA this year at all.

David, there is the SURTEX Show in NYC every May. SURTEX is only open to the decor industry unless you get a special pass.
Also the West Coast Art & frame Show in Vegas in January.

Jessica thanks for the quick response....no special passes for me though....

"Is this trade show open to the public or only the industry?"

This show is open to public, or at least it used to be. Last time I went you had to either register and par or get a freed invite from one of your suppliers.

The breakout sessions use to have a fee but I did not attend very many of them I spent all of my time on exhibitor's floor talking to suppliers, artists, publishers, any one I may be able to sell to or may want to buy from.

In the early days when I was still publishing, I meet a number of small gallery owners that were attendees that I ended up selling a line of prints to.

I am telling you that once you learn to work these trade shows there is money to be made.

Here's a great tip for you. Be there on the last day and watch as the vendors are starting to tear down their booths.. A lot of the stuff that the exhibitors have there are demos of what ever they are selling and will be on sale at very low prices. They would some time rather sell it cheap then to pack it up and haul it back and the have to sell it as used equipment anyway. I used to buy a lot of equipment at these shows. All of what I bought had the original warranty on it.

That is one great show. I used to spend a week in Vegas and go to that show.

Vegas or Atlanta?

Atlanta - just a few hours down the road from me, and I have room and board with the in-laws. :)

Love those kind of In-Laws. My father in law used to live in Hawaii, but that was before I met him. I tried for 30 years to talk him into moving back there so I would have an excuse to go to Hawaii and a free place to stay. lol

Instead we went to Hawaii about a dozen times with him as out tour guide. We went to places that no tourist would ever go. lol

If you watch that web site, sooner or later they will post a list of vendors that are planing to be showing their wares. At least they used to. It might be there no but I could not find it.

Don't know, they didn't last year according to what I was told when I asked last year.

The have not released the exhibitors like that I can find yet.
