Any Tips On Pricing For Licensing From Those Who Participate?

I have a few items in my gallery that might be good for licensing for greeting cards, calendars and so on but am totally lost as to how to set prices. Any suggestions from those who do license? Have any of you had sales from licensing?

I offer most of my photos for licensing, but haven't sold any. I set my own prices, but I notice most people here use the "Getty" pricing default option so that might be a good place to start. Look around Pixels and see how others are pricing their work.

Hello Jane,

There is a stock photo pricing link on top of the pricing area, it is best to use the competitive pricing to begin with. Once you have few sales and the design comes on top of the search list, you can increase the pricing looking at what kind of volumes you had with competitive pricing. If the volumes were bare minimum, you should be happy with the competitive price.

This is how I price my LICENSING PRODUCTS.

Best of Luck

NAVIN

Navin, thanks so much. I have another question if you do not mind answering. On the royalty free pricing, if, for example, I were to place a price of $1.00 on an image, is that per each printing or is it for a length of time? I have read that section twice now and am still not clear on it.

Thanks for the suggestion, James. I have not set the licensing option for my gallery as of yet so I have not seen how it is set up when you go to set prices. I assume the default you mentioned, the "Getty" pricing is listed somewhere on the page. Am I correct?

Royalty Free means that for whatever price you set the buyer can use an image as many times as they want, in as many ways as they want, for as long as they want. You want way more than $1 to let them do that.

Yes, you'll see a Getty button right above where you enter prices. Click it and prices will be filled in for you.

James, thanks again, you have given me just what I needed to help me decide what to do.

I love your gallery, by the way.
