Pinterest Where Did The Check Marks Go?

Well I am trying a new marketing tactic on Pinterest, two accounts. One under my name and another working off of van Gogh's name. I have
three works based on his paintings.

https://www.pinterest.com/vangoghsworks/

Under settings on this account my website is still checked off as verified, but the check mark is gone. This is true for all of us on Pinterest.
It might have something to do with how Pinterest was flooding the Google search results as well. Which was my goal with the van Gogh account.

Please feel free to follow my vangoghworks profile. I follow back. And among the comments that may happen here this can be a Pinterest follow thread
for all of us.

In an email from Pinterest this morning....

Hi there,
At Pinterest we want to help you get discovered, which is why we’re rolling out improvements to how search works on Pinterest. With better, more streamlined search suggestions, twice as many people are successfully finding businesses like you (and your boards) to follow.

We wanted to reach out because as part of these changes, you may have noticed that the checkmark next to your website isn’t there anymore. This is because we’ve heard loud and clear that in search results, the checkmark was misleading—Pinners thought it meant, for example, that it was Abraham Lincoln’s Pinterest account, when in fact it was the Pinterest account for an Abraham Lincoln fan site.

Now if you see a checkmark, it works more like other places where you might see verified accounts, to indicate notable names like celebrities, brands or media.

Don’t worry, your position in search results won’t be negatively affected in any way (and in fact with these new features like search suggestions and spellcheck, you’ll be more easy to find.) Plus, since you’ve already confirmed your website you’ll still have access to website analytics, and any Pin that came from your site will still have your logo.
If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to get in touch through the Help Center.

Thanks for Pinning,
The Pinterest Partner Team

I'm not sure I'm understanding this "check mark". What check mark ? What I have a problem with is the counter on each image you pin to your Pinterest. How many pins. Almost all of mine are gone and some I've pinned myself 3 times.

When your site is verified by Pinterest you go into the Google search high up. Your pinterest board that is.

The public is a huge mass, so having two sites allows for the propagation of two boards. My first board is over
1000 followers now and daily their followers follow my board. I follow back. A second board can get to a whole new
set of followers. After about 600 followers the boards propagate themselves as I am saying on a daily basis.

I firmly believe that on SM people who are interested will stick and those who are uninterested will leave. So you cast the net
far and wide. Obviously there is nothing to lose and everything to gain with that strategy.

Sharon,

The check mark is given out when your site is verified. Under the old terms your Pinterest board then ended up among the top results on Google under
a search for your name.

I dont know what the other technical problems you are having are.

Where do you find this check mark ? I just did my board about a month ago and I don't even remember having to verify it ? Where do I find this information so I can check it.
When we post to FB or Pinterest, there is a number which shows up on each image on FAA .. same for Twitter, etc. Everytime someone shares it, likes, etc... it is suppose to count. Favorites, loves.. etc. The Pinterest counter isn't working.. at least not on my images !

Just heads up. I did a reverse search on a couple of images and I found one of them pinned over 700 times.. and without the FAA watermark. When I told Pinterest about it, they didn't remove the offending images, they removed mine with the watermark on it. I went to a few of the offending pins and put my link in the comments. No way I could follow up on 700 pins. The original offender came from another social media and I couldn't find my image on her page anymore. Shows the power of pinning though !

links for pinterest stay in pinterest. it only makes it harder for people to find you - if in google they end up in pinterest. if they end there - they look at other pins and will be less likely to find you. i think your taking pinterest too far seriously. its not a good place to advertise on. that place is just a digital version of hoarders. they collect, they don't click. the amount of clicks i get through pinterest is VERY tiny. and while i have just the 1 board - i have close to 60 or more fans that have my work. i still get very few clicks.

but you do have something to lose since the links in google aren't being funneled into your store. they are being funneled to pinterest and there is no guaranty that you'll get any kind of clicks in that. and all the time you have following people just to have them follow you back, takes time away from doing anything else.

pinterest can't verify your site unless its your site. you have to add their code, or whatever. so you can't get that at all. also be sure you clear your google histories - since your on pinterest so much, it will show you being on the top. what you want is - your name going to your own store on top. not pinterest.

Mike,

There are no clicks on Google.

If you put your website in their system and then have that website verified, your pinterest account shows up in your search at a higher position. That is all.

Now that is highly questionable after today's changes. Pinterest like Twitter and FB will only be verifying music acts, politicians, etc.....not the common folks.

I do agree mike the click throughs on Pinterest are very thin.

Mike is right... You can not verify your FAA site with Pinterest unless it's your site. You can not put the required code in here unless you are Sean.

Mike Savad

yes, but this verification is to check to see if you own a site. like you can do it on your private site - that's ok. but not on here.

and again, there is little advantage to do that, since again, you may be losing people by sending them to pinterest first.

i should also point out that i would find it really annoying if i had to back out of each category. you only have 1 image in each group. people like to see themes. and all the extra clicking would tire a person out rather fast. there are no descriptions either, just a ton of spam hashtags. and while the tags i think are clickable, they don't count any more in pinterest. your better off adding real sentences.

You're still verified, if you go to your Pinterest account settings and look next to your website, if it was verified as being yours then the checkmark is there and it says it's verified. They're just removing the graphic from your front page logo because the checkmark has different connotations on Twitter and Facebook, and Pinterest is simply following established convention about the checkmark's meaning.

i'm not a debbie downer, i'm - Mike Reality Check -

if you want to use a site to the best of its abilities, its best not to annoy the person looking at things. having to go back and forth through galleries that only have 1 thing, and there is no description at what they are looking at -- you don't help yourself much.

Mike,

I am very soon going over all my descriptions on FAA as well. And adding. I had a mental note to add more on Pinterest as well.

Cynthia,

I am just reading between the lines that the verification for us joe schomes is not what it was. Pinterest verification of your website also had the Pinterest board
ranking very high on Google.

i'll be honest here. i don't think google cares one way or the other if your site is verified on pinterest. you might rank better there some how, but i don't see the connection between the two. you rank higher in google the more fresh your content is.

typing in your name right now i will get your faa site first, followed by twitter, two facebooks, linked in and then pinterest.

In my case I am at the top of any search for my name.

i'm not sure what i'm looking at up there, it looks like your other works mashed together.

if your not on top of the search under your own name then it would be troubling. but you should be appearing on more than just social sites

EDIT:
