Food Photographer Of The Year.

Is that a great food image? I dont get it. How many were there to select from?

Had to be much better IMAGES to select from.

Addition: I am an ex two pack a day smoker coming up on 26 years without a cigarette.

David, I wasn't saying it was a good food photograph. I was merely sharing the feature as I thought it may be of interest. I do think it's a good photo though, all the same.

They take in account editorial usage me thinks.

Interesting, liked all the photos. Commentary is good, too... liked the comment where he said good food portraiture makes you want to reach into the photo and eat it.

Those food images are storytelling images with food as the subject. The food is part of the story not the beauty shot some associate with traditional food images. They are wonderful in a travel stories or documentaries on location. A simple beauty shot would not convey the full story on how the food is prepared the country it is from etc. the people hunting,farming and preparing the food.
