Question About Marketing Your Work On Google+

In my town, I sell my work through a small local gallery. All I have to do is bring in stuff and he takes care of selling it since that is how he gets his commission.

Here though, I understand we have to market our own material or we will never, ever be found. I'm finding this bit not at all exciting but understand that it must be done.
So a few days ago, I've posted on twitter and Google+

The problem I'm having with Google+ is that I would like to post to several different communities at the same time. As far as I can see you have to post to each individually. Also when doing this, all of those posts turn up on my google+ page which looks pretty horrendous. Tonight, I posted 1 to a community and 1 to another and thought before going any further ,
perhaps some well-informed people here could give me a clue of how to do this without my profile page looking like a spamfest.

Thank you for any help you can give me - and I hope I have posted in the right forum.

When I post there I see my friends, family and acquaintances groups all listed there under the post and when I click the share button it goes to all of them if I so choose. Does that not happen for you?

@michelle
I joined a few art communities including FAA that do not post publicly to everyone. They do not show up on my list like for my friends and family. It seems I have to post to each one individually. I don't even have any idea if this is a good idea but I 'm still trying to figure out how to market my work without even knowing if it will help.

Just read in another thread that twitter, facebook and g+ are not helpful, but don't have any idea where to market my work otherwise.

I understand! It is a lot to figure out. I do not market that way on Google+. Maybe some others will chime in~

The way I understand it, everything we post on G+ whether in Communities,Circles, or public will all be seen by one doing the posting in their stream...
If shared publicly then anyone can see it that is in your circles or people that have you circled.
If you share to one circle of friends or family, then only they will be able to see your post and yourself, no one else that even come to your profile will see it.
The same holds true to sharing with communities. Only those that belong in that community will see your post as well as yourself on your timeline/profile. No one else..
So what may look cluttered to you on your profile, not everyone will see. Only what you share with them in circles unless you make it public...

Yes, with Community sharing, it can only be done one at a time, unlike with sharing with multiple circles....Makes no sense, but that is how G+ works

@Roger and Terrie

Right, you are very right..

But if someone decided they may want to follow me, they may go to my profile to see what I post.. wouldn't it just look full of several of the same images? I think seeing that on someone's profile would make it look overwhelmingly like I'm spamming, even if the image I am showing is only shown to 3-4 communities. I would like individuals to follow me so that they will get a notification if I do something which they probably don't want from everyone in their community.

I hope that makes sense

i can't even get my google+ button to post the image anymore....anyone else having that problem?

@Marlene, what I do is I use 1s.gd
I copy the url of the image from my FAA artist site - shorten it with is.gd
When I post the is.gd link on Google+ it automatically pulls up the image and if you click the image, it brings you directly to the buy
page on your artist's site.

I do add some additional hashtags, but it also adds them in the meta of the image pulling that info from the artist site - actually putting the name of the image beneath it. Have not tried to direct them here though, only to my personal FAA page

HI Maggie - If I understand your "spamfest" question - go to settings, Profile (close to bottom of page), unclick the box "Show your Google+ communities posts on the Posts tab of your Google+ profile." Hope that helps! I'm still trying to learn all that G+ stuff, too:)

I can post with G+ button, but unlike all the other social pins which lets me know when something is twittered, or liked on facebook or pinned on pintrest, My G+ button always sits at 0,

@Christy Cox,
Thank you Christy - that totally fixed my issue. Now each community sees what I have put there, but it doesn't clutter up my personal profile. Thank you so much.

@Roger and Terrie - I wish I could help - hopefully someone will have an answer for you that visits this thread.
