Nice try, Roger...

I think its a winner. Of course it depends on what a winner means. I'm surprised how small it is, I wouldn't have guessed without the size reference.

Valerie Reeves

HAHAHA!!!

Blaine Lidtka

Mike Savad

I agree. I own it !

Alfred Ng

Thoughts, mostly.

Definitely a winner.

Joseph Cornell came to my mind for some reason

Paul Cowan

I think the penny is great but putting that thing in the frame next to it rather spoils the effect.

Roger Swezey

Hyoye.

Thanks for the complementary comparison.

Cornell died when I started doing my thing in earnest.....So, I guess I carried on a well recognized tradition....(In my own way, I hope)

John Wills

Nice thread title, got a good laugh, but will say it's an effective headline to get people in. I'll put your piece in the winner's circle.

David King

I like your vulture sculptures very much Roger, I just might be motivated to try something similar some day. I like the idea that it's a sculpture, combined with painting and can be hung on the wall yet has true three dimensional depth. Winner in my book.

Blaine Lidtka

no need to say or is it worth a penny mike. thats not very nice! i think its golden roger!

Rick Mosher

Nice, but I have to say I like the roaches more. :)

Tony Murray

I bought it for 150. It's now worth three times that!

Winner, winner, Vulture dinner!

Mike Savad

@ blaine -- sarcasm? being that its next to the penny, one can interpret that's the worth. compare it to a 100 dollar bill...

Rick,

That's why I have them....You can't please everyone with just one item.

And you can't account for taste...JUST JOKING...JUST JOKING

Roger Swezey

certainly, gets you thinner

Oh MY BAD....I thought i was on a different thread

By the way,

Re: Vulture Dinner

Do know that the only animal that will eat a dead vulture is a crow?

Jennifer White

LOL.

I did not know!

Blaine Lidtka

you know what you said mike quit back tracking

Alfred Ng

Roger, " Vulture Dinner" reminds me a book I just read about the "sky burial" in Tibet, you might want to look it up.

Mike Savad

who is back tracking? you were interpreting it your own way.

Why copy the attitude and writings of Blaine (This Is A Winner)? You are degrading your talents. Nice piece.

VIVA Anderson

Subtle,EF....

Roger Swezey

Monsieur Dani,

Thanks for the compliment.

Now as to whether I'm degrading myself:...

I'm at this time in my life, when I'm comfortably secure in knowing what my" talents"are...

This thread was made as a spoof . Meant as a satire to make fun of those that went, in my opinion, far too strong in their criticism of Blaine's posting.

"...This thread was made as a spoof . Meant as a satire to make fun of those that went, in my opinion, far too strong in their criticism of Blaine's posting."

Roger, I applaud your satirical efforts with the thread, but as I recall, Blaine stated he's 38 (maybe it was 28) years old, and is surely capable of taking up for himself. And he did ask people what they thought of it. ;)

Nice work on the piece you've posted, btw.

Are we still talking about this guy? Stop the madness !!!!
I am getting myself Camo hat.

Robert Kernodle

Ugh ... oh ... I thought this thread title said, "I Think This Is Dinner"

Blaine continues to rein in the echoes.

This is how people become known, ... alas, not by harmonious, clean, neat, planned events, but by serendipitous, controversial, messy encounters. The vulture, thus, is the perfect mascot for this thread. Blaine is the prey.

Have a nice meal, fellow artists.

Carry On

What time, Roger? What goes best with this meal, red or white?

Roger Swezey

Mary Ellen,

I'm not sure.

They certainly don't taste like chicken.

Maybe Scotch...So you won't have to deal with the taste

Edit:

Dinner at eight

Would be great

I think a lovely fruit salad might work.

There's lots of fruit here.

Rick Mosher

I think I would have Everclear and Kool Aid with my vulture dinner (otherwise known as Purple Jesus) Or some Dr Tish's mouthwash (favorite among alcoholics)

With all do respect Roger,
Why is he keep posting? I am here to see what you have to say about Art? But he is keep popping up with his camo.
I really admire some of the Artist quietly doing their work, and never asking for attention.
Art is your expression. If someone understands your art that is fine, if not that is fine too. Why do we need constant validation from other people? I mean validation, not critique. You do it for yourself. When you do it for yourself in best possible way, sometime people appreciate your work and bad part is, a lot of time people don’t. Bottom line is you do it for yourself. Don't ask for constant validation. There is time for joke and time to be serious, I don't like the idea that he is keep posting when he can spend more time doing other things.
I had to work very hard for a long time outside of home to be where I am now.

Roger....

I won't bring 1 bottle.....

I'll bring a crate

A 92 page prototype.

Tried getting it edited and published.....No Luck

Then got halfway through downloading the pages on Blurb...when I realized that the files needed more work.

And there it stands

finally tuned in here at close to 2 pm after a good day of work.

Roger glad you are in the winner's circle. Mike is not inclined to join you. Too bad.

... regarding "coot book"

... not sure about that, but there is definitely material here for a kook book.

It would be coauthored by us all.

Linda Covino

pretty cool piece

Edward Fielding

Roger - definitely publish it. I used CreateSpace for my little books - quality isn't as good as Blurb but the cost per book is very low for a POD book. Plus since they are owned by Amazon, it getting on Amazon quickly. People who've bought the book haven't complained.

I'd imagine black and white images would be fine for a CreateSpace book. Costs for a 92 pager would be around $3 a book which allows one to sell it for an attractive price.

My dog book got a lot (well relatively) of holiday action, probably purchased as gifts as I image your book would. Definitely get it out there before the next Holiday season.

Yo! Roger
We ought to do that sometime, great idea. I like your dream theme " Kumbaya"
So busy on Friday, sorry I couldn't get back to you soon Roger.

Fine art Gallery

I had an opportunity to work with 8 university students doing some special project.
I had 2 white students, and the rest were Korean and Chinese. I was working closely with one student who was older and advanced.
He was a Caucasian who studied bio medical engineering from Cornell and electrical engineering from other university waiting to go to grad school.
I thought he would be perfect assistant for me for this project. But then I couldn’t get any Asian students to participate on this project.
When he showed up, rest of them wouldn’t show up. Therefore I had to work separately. I found out afterwards why this happened. There are both side of story to this.

Roger, to me your drawing “Kumbaya” speaks volume
Freedom of speech, as an Artist we have liberty to speak our mind with our talents, and our spirits with any medium we have.
It would be privilege to meet you.
