There is one I drive by that is supposed to look like a pine tree...does sort of...I don't have a pic but yours are definitely cooler!

The earlier versions were hysterical.....regular towers painted emerald green with metal palm fronds trying to hide the mechanism at the top.....

I'm in NJ. We have no cool cell phone towers.

At least not that I know of.

Marlene, Marlene....I have you beat!!

I depend on this cell tower. It is in the steeple of a local church. It was only installed a few years ago.
The church goes back a long time.

they tried disguising ours as large pine trees. but they don't grow like that in this area. and they fade

on a good day they look like this otherwise they fade an unnatural green.

when looking for this one, i saw the same version as a palm tree.

i think each coast has it's own. east coast has the pine tree version, i know nj does along highways. otherwise a water tower is used. and used in such a way, that it looks like an alien craft is landing there.

many look like this but far worse

i just found this page on some sorry attempts and good attempts at hiding those ugly things.

These are so cool! I think we don't have such "fake natural towers" in Germany, at least I never saw that or heard about.

The fake pine tree cell phone towers are easy to spot, but they seem less objectionable than an unadorned cell tower, to me. The camouflage works to a limited degree, which is better than nothing.

More like waving hello - love it! That said nobody beats the Boston Prudential Center cell phone tower:

Jacksonville, FL has one about like the one Mike has pictured - it's a bit more ratty looking though. It's on the west side of the river near Blanding Blvd

Over in Canton nearby, the local fire department has an independent board. The firehouse rents
space to cellular companies for towers. I can not Google an image. In that case I dont think
the towers are camouflaged. Show me the money is the firemen's/firewomen's attitudes. Free boots is their thinking.
The firefighters are volunteer.

You know firemen v firewomen the FAA spell check is sexist.

Julia,

That is one lousy looking tree. I hope you are not depending on that. :P
