A Colour For Different Days Of The Week.

For a while now Thursday has been red as Friday is my only real day off so I can let my hair down a bit tonight and not have to get up so early tomorrow.

Any thoughts?

P.s Tues is Orange

There's a name for that - for assigning colors to people and things, it's call synesthesia. People with synesthesia have different brain routing patterns than others and "see" numbers as colors, and think of things as having or being specific colors. It's not uncommon.

I think it's pretty cool.

I've been synesthetic.since forever. It was great as a kid (music was the kaboom), a bit bewildering as an adolescent (social studies classes were a thousand crushing greys), and a separate existence as an adult. All these dramas going on and I wasn't connected in any way I was expected to be (not even that I'd expected myself to be).

I don't know how common it is, I suspect that it may be in certain callings and careers, and rare in others. I doubt it's common amongst bankers for instance

Hi Cynthia and Mark,

So sorry I didn't reply to your posts, they must have slipped through the net. Today is Orange by the way, feeling very creative.

Yes, my days have color, but that's not all. I have big time synaesthesia. I was in my mid 20's before it occurred to me that letters and numbers might not have colors to other people, or that they might have different colors. I shared my colors below.

Another thing relating to the calendar... My year runs in an oval (a track), with spring and fall on the short ends. We're going counter-clockwise, so if I look over my left shoulder, I'm facing summer (given that it's winter now).

Monday = Dark Blue
Tuesday = Charcoal Gray
Wednesday = Slate (blue/green/gray)
Thursday = Warm (orange) gray
Friday = Red
Saturday = Yellow
Sunday = Yellow

0 = White
1 = White
2 = Carnation pink
3 = Yellow-green
4 = Orange
5 = Bold Red
6 = Mid blue (faded blue jeans)
7 = Cadmium Yellow
8 = Light periwinkle blue
9 = Very dark blue

A = Red
B = Blue (like 6)
C = Yellow-green (like 3)
D = Lavender
E = Emerald Green (fitting)
F = Hot pink/red
G = Forrest Green
H = Brown (why I'm not fond of my last name)
I = White
J = Hot Pink (why I've always liked my first name)
K = Light periwinkle blue (same as 8)
L = Buttery yellow (same as Y)
M = Deep purple blue
N = Very dark blue (like 9)
O = White
P = Orange (like 4)
Q = Opal (shimmery)
R = Bold red (like 5)
S = Cadmium Yellow (7)
T = Dark gray
U = Very light blue
V = Gold (like a gold crayon)
W = Slate (blue/green/gray), i.e. Wednesday
X = Black & white (like a zebra)
Y = Buttery yellow (see L)
Z = Jet black

Wow Julia!!! That's incredible in a wonderful way. Just clicked on your profile and noticed you joined FAA on my birthday! 8 and 2 are also my lucky/fav numbers..

I simply can not understand how 7 = Cadmium yellow.
C = Yellow green, certainly.
H =Brown makes perfect sense.

EDIT TO ADD - LOL, of course.

I only have sprinkles of this condition. Very sporadic, seemingly no rhyme or reason.
People voices can have color ranges for me, or their personality.

Yes, Claire, I wouldn't trade my colors for the world. 2/8 is a pretty combination (pink/periwinkle). Your initials are pretty, too: yellow-green and lavender.

Julia you've made my evening! Nice to know there are other people on the same wavelength

Janine,
I've read that some people have colors associated with some numbers or letters, without seeing the whole alphabet and all numbers in color. I'm glad we see eye to eye on C and H. Is 7 a different color for you? If so, we'll have to agree to disagree.

Janine, I see people in colours. Food taste has three for me... Light, medium and dark. Robin seems to get it if I say something is too dark a flavour

To me Monday is white, Tuesday yellow, Wednesday green, Thursday dark red and Friday brown. Numbers and months and other things are coloured to me as well.

I have heard about all kinds of synesthesia. I find it fascinating! I enjoyed reading The Telltale Brain, by V. S. Ramachandran. (Wow, that's a very red name!) He uses plain english to explain how the brain works, and he includes real stories of patients with a bit of humor. He's done studies on synesthesia. It's a fun read. (I actually listened to the audiobook.)
