A shepherd and his trusty sheep-herding dog watch his flock on this magical day in France.

This is a 35mm slide I took in 1954 while in the army signal corps in Fromont, France.

It was always my most popular slide, and the sad part about this picture is that it was the only one taken of the shepherd, who died a few days later.

I think it is wonderful that he may live on forever in these pieces of my artwork.

That's a beautiful testimonial, Chuck......very thoughtful of you to commemorate your Shepherd, and the processed images look outstanding, as always. Thank you. I am really touched by your theme, and variations.

Great thread(s), Viv! I really enjoy working in series and sets; I love running with an idea until I'm mentally and emotionally ready to let go, and move on to the next thing. Sometimes, a single image just won't do! :-)

Here are three pieces from my 10-piece 'Black Light' series. The images are digital representations of a type of crayon art, learned and loved w-a-y back in my elementary school days. You'll have to click in to see the details and colors in these pieces -

Thanks, Wendy. They're beautiful....I love this sophisticated outcome of your journey from Crayola days. I always started with red-orange, drawn to it's difference from Red itself.

Thanks, Viv! Pure, vibrant, Red was my 'go to' color. Still my first choice! :-)

Thanks for the kind words, Vivian.

From my days in the army, again, back in 1954. I was lucky enough to be sent to Microwave school in Germany, then assigned to a 9-man microwave relay station in France.

One day I climbed the 150 foot tower to take these pictures of the small town of Fromont and the farmers at work.

Three from my "Historical Series" of the Fire Control Towers of the Delaware Coast:
There were several such towers built during World War II and 11 remain along the Delaware coast, with two remaining in New Jersey. I am working on contemporary images of all of them. Here are three "related images" of FCT #1, located between Fenwick Island and Bethany Beach, Delaware.

A last-minute posting of my 'Timo's Chairs' series. I spent an afternoon dodging patrons, moving furniture, and photographing inside Timo's Coffeehouse, in San Antonio. I was the 'Timo's Artist in Residence' for more than five years, showing my work throughout the establishment and rotating the exhibits on a quarterly basis (or, whenever a piece sold).

One day, I was struck by how appealing the simple, wooden, tables and chairs seemed in their informal setting. Luckily, I had a camera with me -- of course! Here are a few pieces from this ever-expanding series of images:

This is a short series of oil pastel paintings enhanced with Prismacolor oil pencils. To blend the color evenly, I mask the areas around selected color-fields with Friskfilm, cutting along the graphite sketch lines on the museum board with an X-Acto blade, lay in broad strokes of oil pastel, 'paint' the pigment into the board with a rag dampened with a little mineral spirits, then I layer more color on top of the pastel-painted areas - sometimes using my fingertips to push it around and blend it in - and to finish I use Prismacolor oil pencils to draw the details that define the finished piece.
